I had the MTR exhaust that was posted several times in the last few weeks installed yesterday. The muffler and mounting arms were very solid and positioned perfectly. The installation requires some custom bending and flaring to optimize flow and make the connections as leak free as possible. As far as souind quality goes it sounds even better than the video's that MTR posted, it's a deep, smooth, well toned sound with no rasp. My personal opinion is it sounds better than many 4-cyl. applications.

Now the downside is cold start noise, it is noticible and can be irritating if you are looking for something quiet. After the high-idle goes down its still noticible still but much quieter. Accelerating produces a distinct and somewhat throatie sound making the engine sound more powerful than it is, at least the 1.5 I have in my BS. The sound balances out and because smoother and quieter once you get to speed. At highway speeds the cabin noise is higher but not irritating, at least for my worn out 64 year old ears. If you want quiet this system is not for you. I am going to install some Kilmat 80 sound deadining mats in the spare wheel well and everywhere else under the cover to bring the noise down a bit. More for passenger comfort than for myself. All in all I like the sound, other's have commented they like it too. Just be aware that if cabin noise is an issue for you this system might not be your cup of tea.

Good review! Although it’s MRT not MTR. 😉

One thing to note. The tone will change (for the better) after you put some miles on it. After a couple hundred miles there was a noticeable change.

curious if you track your MPG?

I've been eyeing this one since they announced it and really was just waiting to confirm it would fit on the 1.5. I would really like to hear how it sounds, do you have any clips?

I track my mileage religiously, I have less than a hundred on this new system so it's too early to tell what it will be at this point. My previous system improved my MPG about 20% over the factory rating but I don't see the MRT system changing that figure much. It was the drone on my old system that finally got to me. So far the drone is almost negligible so I got what I wanted. I kept the more powerful sound but eliminated most of the drone. And yes, you are right, MRT, fat finger typing)

I've tried recording the sound on my smartphone but it really does'nt capture the true sound. Recorded sound versus actual sound is completly different. The MRT fit perfectly in my 21. I can't imagine the 22-25 models being any different but it is a slim possibility. Nothing that a good shop couldn't handle.

You've sold me. I have a '21 Big Bend and I'm going to go for it!

Thanks

Ahhh. Didn’t realize you weren’t coming from stock. I seen a significant increase in MPG going from stock to MRT and when I mentioned that I was told no way I seen an increase in MPG , so good to hear I’m not the only one who seen the increase getting rid of the stock muffler

Installed the MRT Trail Rated Axle Back...requires some custom bending & flaring.
If you want quiet this system's not for you.
I'm going to install sound deadening mats in the spare wheel well & everywhere else under the cover to bring the noise down.
MRT says, "Installation is straightforward, without the need for modifications." 👈

If I'm not mistaken this exhaust was made for the 2.0L Badlands, not the 1.5L which is why it needed some modifying. Most exhaust systems I've seen for the Bronco Sport need an adapter for the differing trims

We did confirm fitment on a 1.5L last week at our shop and no modification was needed.

yes we used my 2.0 as a test vehicle however MRT had a 1.5 come in and installed the system to verify the fit.

What I’ve learned over the years no two pipes are exactly a like even in the same model. They can be slight variations. Tool wears out a bit, something was aligned slightly differently.

I do believe though that MRT will stand behind their products.
