so I just got my Bronco and I want to go with a tire that is capable off road but still gets good gas milage, I use the car to commute 120 miles a day for work so the fuel efficiency is fairly important. I don't mind a slight hit but I don't wan to lose to much.

I am trying to decide right now about going with a mountain peak snowflake rated all weather on it or going to separate summer and winters also.

Thanks
Steve

I just installed the Cooper Road & Trail all terrain yesterday. Light, quiet and steering seems lighter. So far i like them, BFG K02s were mounted prior, also a good tire.

A quick search will show multiple threads of tire discussions ad nauseam. Falken Wildpeak AT3 sounds like the tire for you.

ya I read quite a few the other day, but 99.9% of them were talking about how big of a tire you could put on. I don't need to go bigger, just want a better tread pattern for the occasional logging road that won't kill the fuel milage. I have been looking at those, I wonder what they do milage wise though.

did you notice a difference in fuel milage with the BFG's from the factory tires?

The OEM Falken Wildpeak AT3's won't hinder your fuel mileage much in the 235/65/17 size because they were made specifically for Ford. So they aren't as heavy duty as the rest of the AT3's. You would however have to buy new wheels because they don't make the AT3's in an 18" size that will fit for you.

Have to add my two bits. Took off the stock Continentals from my 23 sport and got the Goodrich Trail Terrain. Had them on my 18 F150. Great winter and quiet summer. Changed out at 3600 km.

Haven't noticed any difference. They are quiet though. Mostly highway travel. Live on a acreage with a half mile gravel drive to the highway. Winters can get sketchy if I don't keep the drive cleared. Really appreciate them when we go to the city in the winter, city streets are crap. BS handles the situation very well even in std drive mode.

honestly i dont worry about fuel economy. i need gas, i buy it.
bronco sport is pretty amazing compared to our 1991 chev camper van or our 1988 power ram lol.
what we did care about was overall road noise and warranty.
bfg k02 were amazing tbh. i just wanted to try something different.
coopers are insanely quiet compared to bfg, like night and day.

I’ll second @Jmuns reponse. The OEM optional Falkens were specifically designed for this vehicle. They are great off road and in the snow. They are not the largest you can fit nor are they the most aggressive looking. If you are looking for good all around performance, these are great if you can still find them as they are being discontinued. Discount tire still seems to have depending on location.

I went with the General Tire Grabber. No noticeable change in milage. Slight tire noise but quite tolerable. Good rain and snow performance. Offroad I used it for sand and soft dirt, aired down of course. Did very well in the dirt and sand. UHP255 - 55 - R18

ya I do care about the milage as I bought this to replace my 2010 fusion with 230,000 miles on it. I drive 120 miles to work each day round trip so fuel milage was one of the factors.

I took the KO2's off my 1 ton after I discovered the sailun terramax At's, I used to be a diehard all terrain fan, ran them for probably 20 years, won't waist my money on them again, the sailune's last longer (50,000 mile tread life guarantee), ride quieter, more grip in snow and ice, and just better off road all together, and best of all, less than half the price.

ya I was looking at them but they don't make them for the 18" rims, or at least they don't list them. and the new AT4's look like they aren't in that size at all. if I went to an all weather snoflake rated tire, I wanted to stay on the 18" rims , if I buy winters then I will get cheep steel wheels in 17" and save some money on the second set of rubber. I may end up just going to a pure snow tire for this winter on the 18's and see what I can find later.
