I absolutely hated the sound of the terrible stock speakers. The JL’s sound so much better even though I haven’t replaced the dash tweeters yet.
I added some dampening material where I could given my amount of patience. They sound great without an external amp just with the stock head unit. I actually get some decent tactile bass response at higher volume from the 4 6.5” woofers so I personally don’t need to add a subwoofer. The mids are bass sound right to me. I’ll replace the front dash tweeters another day.
I used plastic trim pry tools from Amazon. After getting the screws out of the door it initially felt a bit scary the amount of force it took for the door clips and when they pop out it sounds bad, but I didn’t have any damage to the plastic clips.
Highly recommended if you hate the stock speakers and come on ford, those are way to cheap of speakers to put in a 40k vehicle! Freaking bean counters. 😂

For now I'm still using the stock tweeters:

I uploaded some quick videos to YouTube that some of you may find useful concerning my previous post upgrading the base door speakers to JL audio C1 separates in the front coaxial in the rear, I end up keeping the Ford stock tweeters in the dash for now.
Another thought was taking the big plastic panel off from the dash that goes all the way across it with its multitude clips went really smooth for me. Today was a warm day I was parked outside with the middle day sun on it and I think that made the plastic a bit more pliable and less likely to crack your luck up north in the winter may not be as good.

Fantastic videos!

I put the same speakers in my '23. I did replace the stock tweeters in the dash with the ones that came with the JL's. I wouldn't recommend it. The problem is the JL's are metal dome tweeters, and the windshield is shaped just right that it'll beam into your left ear. Was basically painful for me at any volume. I ended up replacing them with some silk dome tweeters. If I were to do it again I'd keep the stock Ford Tweeters, they are shockingly good for OEM stuff.

Mine's got the B&O system... Currently I have amps and the PAC module installed to replace the stock amp and added an aftermarket sub. Realistically, I wouldn't do that again either. With just upgraded 6.5's in the doors the B&O system is pretty good IMO.

What I originally did was just replace the front door 6.5's with the JL CS1 6.5's, (with a 4 ohm resistor, more on that later) didn't use the tweeter and I moved the slightly higher quality front speakers to the rear door.

In that configuration new front door speakers were a little louder than the rest, made the balance screwy and sounded off. With the added 4 ohm resistor it toned them down and made them match everything else pretty well. With that and setting it to surround and turning off speed compensation it sounds pretty good. I should have stuck with this.

But hey, soon it'll be swapped for a '25 Badlands Sasquatch. Might not touch the stereo in it at all. Maybe it's just me, but the B&O in the '25 sounds better than the B&O in my '23 did. Could just be my ears getting old though...

The only cars I've added audio equipment to didn't have any in the first place. I've never seen a strong argument for adding a bunch of expensive stuff to what's arguably the worst personal acoustic environment we'll be in.

The last time I roadtripped to music was coast to coast with a cassette player on the passenger seat and one tape: Blow by Blow (Jeff Beck). If you're wondering how long ago that was, it was a new release at the time.

Then again, I've had my BS (B&O) for two months now and have yet to turn the radio one even once. Don't even get me started on Sirius. I've told them repeatedly that not only do I not want a subscription, I'd prefer they just die like any other media that can't survive without subsidies and forced inclusion. I'm about to start invoicing them for polluting my inbox and mailbox.

can I ask some follow up questions? I am debating on doing this on my 25 OB without the B&O system.

What has your long term experience been with these door speakers?

Can you share the parts list of what you ordered? I am having a heck of a time finding what I need and Crutchfield says stuff won’t fit. If I am opening the door, I want to have what I need and do it once.
