Hi everyone,

I hope this is the right place to post! I spent about 30 minutes searching the forum for similar posts but couldn’t find anything helpful, so I thought I’d ask directly.

I have a 2023 Bronco Sport Outer Banks and, like most of us, got two key fobs from the dealer. Since I’m always traveling and don’t really have a secure place to store the spare, I usually carry both key fobs with me. I don’t feel comfortable leaving the spare with someone else, so I wanted a solution to keep one of the key fobs in the car without the car recognizing it, for security reasons.

To solve this, I removed the battery from the spare fob and left it in the car. It worked as planned until a strange warning light appeared on the dashboard. From what I can tell, it seems to be related to the car having trouble detecting one of the key fobs.

I put the battery back in the spare fob, hoping it would resolve the issue, but the warning light persists. It’s been a couple of weeks now, and both key fobs work perfectly fine otherwise.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to clear the warning light? Thanks in advance for your help!

The icon below the gas pump icon? If so, that is for the Blind Spot Monitor. It Illuminates when you switch the feature off or in conjunction with a message. See Blind Spot Information System in the owners manual. Cheers!

How did you conclude the warning lights are related to the fob? A better solution for your fob issue might be a faraday pouch. You put the fob in the pouch and the car cannot "see" it. I would stick with the type that uses snaps to fasten the closure instead of velcro.

Store the fob in a Faraday pouch. It will block the signal.

I keep my spare in my sock drawer, no issues to date other than the main one I use triggering the panic button when I sit down. I like to think it's bc my jeans are too tight and it's warning me that I need to lose weight!

@Mark S. Can you recommend a faraday pouch with snaps? Mine with Velcro stopped protecting the keyfob after 6 months of use.

Thank you for the link

Btw .. a couple of the reviews says the pouch fails to block signals after around 6 months of use. Is your experience much better?
I've only had this pouch for a few months, but it's already lasted longer the the first pouch (different type) I had.

Yeah .., my prior one with Velcro leaked RF after a few months so hoping the SLNT pouch with the snaps works far better than the Velcro version I had.

The SLNT pouch is significantly deeper that my previous one. I think the fob will be shielded even if the flap fibers break because it sits much deeper in the pocket.
