The speedometer got slightly off the faster I drove, comparing it to my GPS reading, going from the stock 225-65-17 to the 235-65-17 tires.

Metric tire measurements work differently, the first number is tread width, the second is the ratio of sidewall to tire width. so the difference between 235/65 and 245/65 is 65% of 245 - 235 which is 6.5 mm, which is .255 inches, so the math works.

Falken Wildpeak 245/65/17s fits as spare tire, not need to remove any paddings.
But the lid doesn't stay flat. Airing it down helped a bit, but still not perfect.

I dunno, I kinda like that tire peeking out at you, as if to say, "Hey, why don't you put me on for a while?" :bandit:

If you take the padding out it will drop down so you can lay the lid flat.

What kind of a hit in gas mileage did you take? Nice tires but a bit on the heavy side at 39 lbs. compared to the Falken OEM 235/65/17 at 31 lbs. and the Goodyear Workhorse 245/65/17 AT also at 31 lbs.

Thanks for the write-up. I ran the factory 235 AT3's for 8k, then switched to 245/65 KO2's on my 21 BL. They can't be beat offroad, but I've decided they are a bit noisy on pavement. I have a 23 Eruption green/CG BL that was just shipped. I left the 225's on the order knowing I would replace them. I'm going with the 245/65 AT3's this time. My son buys a few hundred vehicles annually from this dealer so I just let him be my proxy buyer. Things seem to go smoother. He is going to ask them if they can get some 245 AT3's on before I pick it up. Will make things a little more simple. Estimated delivery is 8/21 thru 9/03. I see a September trip to Colorado in my future.

This is the route I'm thinking of taking in Brand and Sizing... with those 245'x65x17s... I just do not want to contend with a lift kit if possible... so question?

Is yours a STOCK BL's ? I know others say yes... but I do a lot of off roading with mine and its dinky stock Perilli 225x65x17's.... ugh. I guess I shouldn't be too hard on them... they have pulled me through some off road trails... but always 'icy"...

However, as soon as they wear down she more replacing with a better AT tire.

Saw someone post they just installed the Falkens. To me they gave my BS a whole new life and look. Found a great deal on them at Wal-Mart (lol) and ordered/installed "Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 245/65R17XL 111T BW All Terrain Tire". Love them and they ride great.

I've had the 245 AT3W's on my Badlands for a couple weeks and it's looking around 1 mpg hit in city. My city driving is a lot of stop and go residential. Going from around 19 down to 18, but I am a little more cognizant on my driving and deliberately trying to drive easier.

Your mpg might have changed because of the size difference ? Just a thought. I put 30 inch Goodyear wrangler workhorse 235/70/17 on my first edition and I read about 2 mph more than actual. Something to look into .
