I bought a new BS Big Bend last week and I noticed that after shutting off the engine there is a humming noise coming from the engine compartment on the drivers side. I didn't think much about it until I noticed that the humming also starts whenever I open a door. I stopped at the service department today to ask about it and was told that that is normal and that it is "probably" the fuel pump. In his explanation the words "probably" and "I think" were said too many times to have a good feeling that he knows what he is talking about.

Is this noise normal when opening the door and is it the fuel pump?

Thanks,
Ed

Yup, LED headlight fans. The little boogers get excited even if you walk by! I think it just likes to be turned on!

Thanks everyone. I just went down to the garage to listen again and it is coming from both sides and seems to be coming from the headlight area. I sure have a lot of confidence in the service department now.

When the words "probably" and "I think" are used in an explanation, usually an indication someone doesn't know their "6" from their elbow

Since I have absolutely no clue what this means, you’ll feel comfortable to know I never reply to threads like this. Back to the beer thread for me! Which I think is probably a good idea. :giggle:

"6" refers to clock position as a way of describing relative bearing. Imagine you are at the center of a horizontal clock face. 12 o'clock is directly in front; 3 o'clock is to your right; 9 o'clock is to your left; 6 o'clock is directly behind. A wingman might say, "You got a bandit on your six!"
