How to disconnect driver's side manual push/pull door lock?

It’s not that bad, even if you accidentally locked the drivers door into the manual lock position with keyfob inside the vehicle, you have multiple ways to enter

Enter using one of the 3 unlocked doors !
Use the Ford App on the phone
If equipped, use the external keypad

Well as said on the earlier thread, drive the vehicle so that all doors auto lock, park and turn the vehicle off, leave the keyfob inside the vehicle - open the drivers door and while it’s open, use the mechanism on the inside of drivers door to manually lock the vehicle, get out and close the door.

Drivers door will remain locked and if the setup option (on the sync screen) is set to lock all 4 doors) apparently all 4 doors will be locked with the keyfob inside but I didn’t try that last part

so I basicly did the same thing when we were trying in the door code thread, I came to a stop and locked my keys in the car using the manual door lock inside. it just double beeped and unlocked all the doors. I tried every possible senario people sugested to lock my keys in the car, manual lock, dor handle lock, the only one I xould do it with was by pressing 8 and 9 at the same time on my door code panel, which is by design so you can lock a set of hidden keys in the car.

in that case it is also intentional. but here is a better question, why do people even take their keys out of their pocket or purse? thats the part I like best about the new technology in vehicles, just put my thumb on the handle to lock it and just go to open the door to unlock it.

OPs scenario was the purse was inside the vehicle with the keyfob and the phone so after the drivers door locked - could not get back in because there’s no external keypad on outside of drivers door

If you want to replicate, do all these steps or not if you are bored with this thread:

1) Drive vehicle say above 15mph so all 4 doors auto lock.
2) pull over, stop the vehicle, turn engine off, leave keyfob inside vehicle.
3) Open driver's door.
4) Press the push/pull mechanical lever into the flat/locked position.
5) exit vehicle and close drivers door.
6) Try to open drivers door without another keyfob on you or not by using the external keypad.

Drivers door should be locked but the other 3 doors will be unlocked (see earlier thread for a setting regarding only drivers door or all 4 doors as that might impact the situation)

My drivers door will be locked following above steps. I also have the external keypad so I can get back in that way too

Yours is a Canadian model so is also possible yours works differently than US models

I'll give it a try, I am pretty sure I did that during the testing for the key fob test, but maybe not.

I had to actually double-check to see if the lock lever was even on mine. I've literally never noticed it in the year I've owned mine.

Seems stupid to include a mechanical lock, as every trim includes electric lock/unlock buttons on the front doors, and simply pulling the door handle will open the door even when locked, so it surely can't be a safety feature.

I wonder if that door handle/lock assembly was also used in other models that didn't have electric lock/unlock buttons, so it was cheaper to just throw it in.

If the battery dies it will give you a way to lock the doors from inside the vehicle. Also, it is the only indicator of what the status of the locking mechanism is. Locked or unlocked.
