Hello all,

My wife and I are getting on in years, she used to be a convertible gal, had an MX-5, an '03 red Thunderbird, and her last was a Buick Cascada we traded for this little pony. The poor '17 Cascada only had 13,000 on it so we got a great deal on the trade in.

I used to have a Toyota FJ, so we thought perhaps a real utility vehicle with some fairly serious capability and towing capacity would be a good change, and it had to be easy to get in and out of. My vehicle is a Ford F350 Platinum that we use to tow a large Toy Hauler. I'm grateful for the nearly 30mpg this little beast gets.

At first she was skeptical, but we checked the Bronco Sport out while my truck was in for service, and she fell in love with it, but wanted a better color, she likes a vehicle that stands out.

We ended up with a '24 Badlands, I insisted she get the model with the larger motor and heavier drive train, we probably won't go off road too much but our driveway is a half mile itself, and I'm sure there is a beach somewhere. I tricked it out a little for her. She was particularly interested in the door guards, we bought aftermarket because the OEM get too close to the logos on the doors. I also added a Bronco on the tailgate, but for some reason I can't add more than one photo.

The dealership had to look around their inventory to get a color she wanted, so we had to wait a day to pick it up, I think the only thing it doesn't have is built in navigation, but using Android Auto isn't a problem. I really like the "Topo-Graphics", they help with glare.

She couldn't be happier, and I think we will be driving it more!

Welcome from west of Martinsville. Add the stripes on the hood bumps, I did them on my wife's red 21 BB & I have noticed any more glare like it used to have. Nice color. We installed the letter blackouts, Bronco emblem on the tailgate, & a Bronco decal on the gas cap door.

Nice job! My wife was kinda disappointed with the fact that they discontinued the red paint, but really liked the Hot Pepper Red, and she said since her Thunderbird was red she was fine with something different.

Sorry for the double post, not used to how this forum works yet. Attaching files is a little annoying.

Congrats on the purchase; love the color! One nit: I wouldn't consider the Badlands's drive components "heavier" than other trims. The power transfer unit (transfers power from the front wheels to the rear) is liquid cooled, and the rear drive unit incorporates a twin clutch system to simulate a locking differential. I don't believe the components used are any more durable than those used in other trims, just more capable.

Thanks Mark,

I get the nit. I opted for the dual clutch and lockable system because our road doesn't get plowed in the winter, when it manages to snow here even my F350 struggles with anything over 6". I agree with your capability assertion. 🙂

Hey Mt Goat,

I got them on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CFZJYS1J

They are 3d party Door guards that are made of ABS as opposed to polyurethane, perhaps not the best choice but half the price. They are smaller and do not interfere with the logos, a problem some have with the OEM version. They also don't require using an adhesive in a caulk gun.

The install was fairly easy, but great pains must be taken to position them properly before removing the red 3M tape cover. One was a little warped and separated some so I had to take it off, apply a couple of layers of new tape and replace it. Rubbing Alcohol was my friend that day. It wasn't easy to find the same tape, but I did: Foam VHB tape

Hi Bob,

Wondering how you are liking the door guards now that you have had them for a while. My 2025 is arriving in a few weeks and I am still thinking of adding these. Would you use them again, or do something different?

Thanks!
