Just did about 700 miles round trip from DFW to San Antonio, a little around town there, and then back in our BS BL. Had about 2100 miles on it when we left, and right about 2800 now. Only major change that would affect MPG I've made is I put on the Cooper AT3 4S in a 245/65/17 size. I was feeling a little disappointed with the gas mileage on the way down as we only got about 21.5mpg, granted that was into a steady 25ish mph head wind and I averaged about 75mph. I feel better after the ride back with a similar tailwind, I locked the cruise around 80 and got 27.8. So I'm just guessing, but with minimal wind, economy would be around 25mpg. Wasn't sure what anyone else had seen with the 2.0 engine. I've seen good mileage numbers from the dragon but just wanted to throw this out there. Anyone seeing anything different, or similar results?

We have about 5K on ours and havenā€™t taken it on any ā€œtripsā€, itā€™s getting around 27mpg.
Any vehicle is effected by the wind and it has been windy lately in central Texas, the gulf flow !

Ok so you got 21.5 mpgā€™s with a 100mph head wind.
And on the way back you got 27.5 in a 55 mph head wind so your average hi way mpg @ an average speed of 65 mph was 24.5ā€¦
Thatā€™s about right for the 2.0L and that fits in line with the 1.5L As it delivers an avg hwy mpg of 28.0. at similar speeds.
Yeah yeah I know my brain is a little different.

I have visited Buda, TX several times while going to CODA for F1 and MotoGP races.

About the same here (N of Houston), esp across to SA and back...
You know, for some reason I can't find a quick reference to the BS drag coefficient... I'm guessing "brick like" would be a good guess?
Also noticed quite an improvement over the first 1K miles, and some effect of higher octane (usually middle grades or so)

Question I have is, when you are cruise control at 80 are you doing 80? Or did the tire size change any read outs? That could also effect if youā€™re going faster than you realize. I think I should go to San Antonio now to test my mpg šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I filled up yesterday after 300+ miles of two lane @70 MPH or less and clocked in at 27.7 MPG which is our best tank to date with just under 5,000 miles on the odometer. Generally speaking, we are getting 25-27 consistently.

The speedometer is a little off due to the tires. Technically I would set it around 78 which put me actually around 81 or so, but for ease of explanation I just went simple with it šŸ˜…

pretty much the same here and it did improve as miles on the odo increased. I'm just over 11K and it seems pretty dialed in. Ran a trip to Southfield on 75, cruise, no appreciable wind, set running 78mph. Clocked 28.5mpg there and 27.0 balanced on the return. Lost a little driving in town. My typical work commute is 2 miles, it's closer to 23.5mpg on a straight stretch with one stoplight

Air resistance is square the velocity. Double the speed needs 4x the power. I'm not sure how it works with wind speed but you can probably add headwind and subtract tailwind.

FWIW, given the BL is the better part of two tons and can run sub 6 sec 0-60 times along with real offroad capabilities - the mpg figures are quite good...

To be honest I'm not really sure. I commute 50 miles round trip per day, most of that rural 2 lane with few stops, so I don't really have an idea of what city-only mileage would be.
