Looking for advice. I started driving a 2022 Big Bend and I really like it, but I haven't driven anything besides a pickup truck since 1974. I figured my days of hauling lumber, etc. were over but it only took a few weeks to realize that wasn't true. I did a test with an 8' 2x6 with a rag wrapped around one end slid into the tray under the touchscreen and another rag on top of the seatback. That worked for one board, but I don't think it's a good idea. Besides a trailer, how do you carry lumber with your Bronco Sport?

Depends on how much. I built a 15x20 deck 35 years ago bringing it all home (many trips) on the top of a Mustang with home made roof racks. Do you have roof racks? I can get 10ft copper pipes inside the Escape. Not sure I’d try in the Bronco.

I have the factory racks on my Badlands and it works fine for carrying both dimensional and sheet goods. For large quantities of stuff, I just put the trailer on and use that.

Thanks, by factory racks, I assume this is something you purchased to attach to the roof rails? Any chance you have a photo or part number?

These are the ones for the Badlands. They have some as well for the other trims.

I just picked up 4 8’ 2x4’s yesterday. I just pop open the radar glass, put a towel on the paint and slide them in letting them rest on the rubber backing by the rear seat headrests. When I carried a half dozen 10 footers I put another towel on the console then ran them in the rear hatch glass and stacked them on the console.

I have a Harbor Freight trailer for hauling big stuff, but mostly I hang things like my clam and scallop rakes out the rear glass. I haven’t found a need for crossbars yet. I wish my wife’s Explorer had an opening window in the rear hatch too.

This is what I do also. If I need sheet goods or a lot of lumber I take the F150 and get it. Most of the times it is only two or three sticks.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I've got a few options to consider. I had ordered a hybrid Maverick on July 1 and received another ford email last week that there are still delays... While I love the Bronco Sport, I'm tempted to trade it if the Maverick arrives and I like it as much.

Yuppers. I’ve owned a truck last 30 years and no doubt just to adapt to the circumstances. Hahahah I’m like Safford and Son these dayzzzz

Four heavy 8' pressure treated 4x6's for a greenhouse project foundation - Hatch open - passenger seat all the way forward - couple layers of cardboard to help slide them in and keep things clean. You can leave the hatch open on slower roads - or tie it partially down.

Getting "utility" out of your sport utility vehicle. I like it.
