When using bluetooth with iPhone, Google Maps works for a few seconds and then crashes the bluetooth connection with phone. I've done a reset on the menu screen and also downloaded the latest software on phone and on Bronco Sport. Has anyone else had this problem and did you find a fix? I called a Ford service department, but they said they had never heard of this issue- shocking haha. It's been going on for months and is driving me nuts. Switched to Waze, nothing will make it play on speakers when on a call, even when that setting is enabled.

Never seen this and haven’t heard anyone report that exact issue

Let’s double check…

Go to the iPhone Settings > General > Software Updates
What version does it show?

On the Bronco Sport 8” Display:

Select SETTINGS tab, then
Select GENERAL tab, then
Select ABOUT SYNC tab

Post a screen shot pic so we can see the Sync version

You can try deleting your iPhone off of Sync using Settings on the 8” Display, remove the vehicle from the iPhones Settings (Settings -> CarPlay), then add your iPhone back to Sync and re-set up CarPlay (if you use CarPlay).

I would figure that stuff like Google Maps and Waze would need to use a cable and Android Auto/Car Play instead of trying to use bluetooth. Maybe I'm out-to-lunch on that, though. Cheers!

I can't speak directly to the iPhone, it works seamlessly with my Samsung Galaxy via Bluetooth, nice to not have a cable to deal with.

One thing that might help isolate the issue, have you tried connecting with a cable vs Bluetooth? If you still have issues, to me that would indicate either an issue with your phone or an incompatibility with your version of the software, apply car play.

I did find this interesting Reddit thread: CarPlay keeps disconnecting

It seems this may not be Ford Specific.

I use Waze and have had no issues. I’ll try Google maps today.

I do use a Carlinkit 5.0 as my wireless interface to Apple CarPlay.

Questions

What is the year of your vehicle?

Are you using a wireless adapter?

Please share with us the Build version of SYNC that is currently installed.

Let us know your current version of iOS installed on your iPhone.

I tried Google maps today and had no issues with my connection. As I said earlier, I’m using a wireless Carlinkit 5.0 adapter.

So crazy y'all, I must have a jinxed one. It's a 2021 bronco sport Outer Banks, and iPhone and sync are up-to-date. Waze does work without crashing Bluetooth, but it's frustrating, too, because although I've tried every setting imaginable, it will no longer talk through my speakers when I'm on a phone call. They both worked great for years, but all started happening with Google Maps around the time I updated months and months and months ago to either one of the iOS 17's or 18. I continue to update and still have the issue.

You really should look at Post #2 and report what u find it terms of the actual version #s

Can’t tell you how many times people say they are up to date but they checked incorrectly

But if you don’t want to that’s fine

Why is so hard to pry information from OPs regarding issues? They post a problem, we ask questions to help solve the problem, and the OPs resist answering the questions.

Oh well.

lots of reasons. They’re at work. They don’t know how to check their version and they’re outside figuring it out. They aren’t online every minute of the day cuz they have a family life. They went to the grocery store. They forget to check back and will be here tomorrow. And so on. Most people do appreciate all the helpful folks here and appreciate your patience.

The OP was asked for the Build version of SYNC 3.4

The response was, it is up to date. That does not answer the question.

We ask this question to help diagnose the problem. If the OP currently has Build 22251 installed, all kinds of issues will appear. If the OP checks for updates, Build 22251 will indicate SYNC is up to date.

Just use a cable and use CarPlay. I have an iphone 15 Pro Max and I only use a cable and CarPlay. The odd time I don't use CP is for short drives and the bluetooth works fine. I'll test Waze and Maps tomorrow and let you know what I find.
