I've had my car for a little over two years now and I dont regret it. I haven't wanted a Maverick, tbh I think a very small truck looks a little weird, and I definitely haven't wanted a different CUV or a Subaru instead (not sure I'll ever spend my money on a car with a CVT)

And its good to see others are enjoying the car as well. I've been taking my friends out fishing in the car and one is thinking about trading in is 2WD 4Runner for a used Badlands and the good news is the cars have been out long enough that more and more are becoming available.

I still think its a great lil car. More capable then most and does the day to day stuff well unlike the big bronco and wranglers of the world.

I also drove my dads '22 F150 Platinum FX4 from San Diego to Mammoth Lakes over the 4th and while that is a great car and feels like it costs twice as much which it does...its a bit too big and a bit too wide to do the day to day stuff well.

And the dam thing bricked up on me twice at the worst possible times during the trip. One was when I was backing out of a resteraraunt and forced a software update then...so I was stuck...blocking traffic...at a highly popular location...and everyone is getting mad at me and it wont move until the software upgrade finished (Ford wtf...why can't I cancel or postpone an update like I can on computer) leaving me stranded taking verbal abuse from kind strangers for a half an hour...The other time I was a park, with bad reception....and that update took an hour.

I have (finally) started to drive the BS Outer banks we bought 1 year ago. The more I drive it, the more I like it. So far, no issues with brakes moaning, no water pump issues, but then again, I only have put on 3500 miles on it.

Not clear how a software update would brick the entire car. Certainly the battery has bricked some owners vehicles.

Can you please provide more details about the occurrence of that software update ?
I could be wrong but bricking the entire vehicle while you were driving and that being due to a software update may well be the first report of this phenomenon.

The second time it happened I contacted Ford Customer Service, while it was bricked who confirmed it was happening because a software update was being processed and the car wouldn't start again until that had been uploaded. Unfortunately for me I was in an area of bad cell reception at the time and a few minute update took an hour. The first time it happened it took like 20mins.

So I know it sounds crazy and unlikely but it is a known thing.

I also asked for help on the F150 subreddit, after the first time it happened and they're the ones who guessed it was a forced software update causing the issue and they ended up being correct.

Don’t doubt your experience but it seems more likely the cause of the non restart was the battery. And most owners that experience this, the vehicle will restart after a short time.

If Ford knows a software update can brick the entire vehicle there should be a Technical Service Bulletin.

I’d be interested in experience of other owners that can relate their vehicle bricked during a software upgrade. It’s definitely not something that should happen (software upgrade bricks entire vehicle).

I’d have to agree with most of their comments. It’s been a great vehicle ove the past 2.3 year. @AmazingSieve and I got ours at about the same time. I think his opinion and mine are the same.

Mine was intended to be only temporary as I was waiting on my full size to get scheduled/built. However after having it nearly a full year and a half before my full size was built and delivered, I decided it was too good and useful of a vehicle to get rid of. I got rid of my 2006 Escape instead. No regrets at all. It allows me to drive my full size as intended and use the Sport as intended.

My gas milage hasn’t been nearly as good as they have reported but then I tend to drive with a heavy foot so there’s that. I’ve got no complaints about that either. It’s about the same as the Escape with much more horsepower and off road chops.

I have commented numerous times on various forums about my experiences both great, good and not so good and I have ended each and every one with the statement, I love my Bronco Sport and when the time comes to trade her in, I'm getting another!

Just wait until you hit ~15-18K. The moaning noise will find you. 😎

Mine found me right away. I’d say it was following me but since it only happens backing up, I’d say I was following it!

It’s the first vehicle in the last 10 plus I’ve owned that I’ve kept more than a year. And I think it will hit 2. So yeah, liking it.
