Noticed today that the GOAT Modes Selection Knob in my 2021 Outer Banks seems to 'free-wheel' when I try to select a driving mode. I thought I remembered the knob having a hard stop at the end of selection options. My knob will select a mode but it also 'free-wheels' (i.e., there is no hard stop at the end of the selection options. Once I get to NORMAL Mode, I can continue to turn the knob CC without any change occurring to the selection). Anyone else have this issue or am I just imagining things. Maybe it's been like this from the get-go. The other driver on this being an issue is I filled the Bronco Sport this morning & it only got 18 MPG, which it has never done! Wonder if tranny is stuck in SPORT. Something definitely doesn't feel right!

That is how the selection knob works.

How many miles do you have on the vehicle?
Do you have any MILs?

A little more info on the GOAT Mode Switch in my 2021 Bronco Sport.

Turns out whenever I start the Bronco Sport, the GOAT Mode is NORMAL. So I turn it 1 Click Clockwise & It puts the drive mode into ECO. Let's say I stop, shutoff the Bronco Sport and go run whatever errands I want to do. When I come back, start the Bronco Sport and put the Transmission in DRIVE, if I check the GOAT Mode it is in NORMAL again. I don't remember the switch doing that before. I thought it used to stay in whatever GOAT Mode I last selected.

All ‘21-‘24 Bronco Sports always start in Normal Goat Mode and there is no known way to alter that to a different mode on start up

( well there is a way but involves some pretty major surgery, there is a post about that )

You actually have to turn the knob 2 clicks to get to ECO. The first click just wakes up the selector knob.

The 2025 models will ask if you want to stay in the last selected GOAT mode at startup. It displays a question in the instrument cluster with a simple Yes/No prompt. Select Yes and it goes back to Sport, Eco…whatever mode you were last in. Select No and it reverts to Normal mode. No more rotating the GOAT mode dial every time you start the BS if you want to stay in Eco mode.

Absolutely correct and I went back and edited my post to state All ‘21-‘24 …

typically I have been including the ‘21-‘24 where it matters because there are differences to the 2025s

in this thread the OP owns a 2021

My gear select knob also works this way (free wheel)
