Hey all, first time posting as I’m very disappointed. Having serviced my bronco sport only at ford dealers, I am currently having my transmission completely rebuilt in my 2021 big bend bronco sport. I was informed of a clutch overheating code that they said they addressed at my last oil change and a week later it completely stalled and locked up in the middle of the street, wouldn’t go into neutral and had to be towed. St Thomas Ford quoted me an obscene $5000 and 2 week turnaround for DIAGNOSIS, after being charged double the standard $150 engine light check. I then had it towed to Mr Transmission who is rebuilding it with the upgrade kit for $7000 within the same 2 week turnaround. I did the transmission service at the recommended intervals, and still experienced this failure. The transmission is built with plastic and aluminum parts, the upgrade kit purchased from ford is teflon coated stainless steel…. it seems like it’s engineered to fail shortly after the warranty is up and ford planned for that by offering to sell you an upgrade kit. I love my car, but I am so disappointed with this. Be careful with your transmissions.

… (8F35) transmission is built with plastic and aluminum parts, the upgrade kit purchased from ford is teflon coated stainless steel….
8F35 transmission is used across many Ford models (as well as the GM-variant in a number of GM vehicle models).

The only recall I found for the 8F35 is Customer Satisfaction Program 22B38 affecting Bronco Sport and 5 other Ford models however this was a factory build issue over a very short 2022 timeframe and owners would have been notified by the VIN if impacted.
And there are 8F35 transmission issues impacting Transit vans.

My main concern is with the 8F35 is in the 2.0L Bronco Sport model due to the mismatch of torque specs supported by the 8F35 and the output torque of the 2.0L engine. I posted about that on this Forum as did others. An advanced search on this forum for 8F35, Torque will bring up those posts for anyone interested.

Also, I discussed a number of issues with a Ford Tech recently, here is his view on the 8F35:
“for the transmission they rushed production on this car and threw one in there and said "good enough". The torque limit on fords spec site is less for the (8F35) transmission than the (Bronco Sport) badlands (2.0L) .. (which) is super suspicious.”

Now I’ve updated my 8F35 concerns to include “plastic and aluminum parts”.

Every 60,000kms
We need to follow the severe maintenance schedule - I am assuming you are in Canada, so extreme ends of temperatures. Trans oil needs to be replaced every 48k kms…

I’m planning to do my first one at 36k!!

We used to say "oil is cheaper than metal" but now I guess it's cheaper than plastic.

the list starts with 2024 and 2025 Bronco sport utility vehicles produced from November 27, 2024 through February 4, 2025.
Oof ... missed by a week
I’d still have the dealership run your VIN… Ford has been known to change the applicability to include more vehicles

This is the paragraph for those not wanting to open the link:

“Dealers are to replace all suspect main control valve bodies at no charge whatsoever to affected customers. Owner notification letters will be mailed between May 5, 2025 and May 9, 2025. As for the affected vehicle population, the list starts with 2024 and 2025 Bronco sport utility vehicles produced from November 27, 2024 through February 4, 2025.”

I think it needs it's own thread that being buried in someone topic.
