I believe that is normal and a good feature. My truck went into sleep mode after 2 weeks. I will be getting the battery tested asap. Being 50 miles in the bush with dead battery and no cell service would not be cool. My wife drives back roads a lot while Geo Caching.

Imagine telling someone "your headlight fans are noisy" . They would probably look at you funny and say sure, check the muffler bearings while you're at it (then drive to another shop)
