Brake pads are less than $60 to purchase and takes less than an hour to do. Do you want to be driving around knowing that your BS may or may not stop when you want it to - especially in an instant where you might need it to to avoid a collision. Or you could just park it and wait a month or more for the parts to be available to perform the recall.
I have 12,000 miles and have had zero issues aside from the whining while in reverse. Ford can fix their mess up, to each their own.

curious how buying pads and investing time or money into a recall repair is more cost effective than having ford fix it for free?
May not be cost effective, but for me it certainly is time effective. As stated above, brake pads are not hard to do (and do correctly). My dealer is 30+ miles away and takes awhile to get any maintenance appointment right now.

And if I go hang around the dealer while work is being done, I may be tempted to order me a BL version. :)

Does this mean a halt in production? Or continued production then shipment once the recalled part is replaced?
As of right now the only thing that Ford is saying is that there is a StopShip order in place. They did not mention if they were stopping production. That means that anything that has already been built and is awaiting shipping or anything that is in transit will stop wherever it is. This happened with the Maverick recently. However, if you look back to the June builds, there was an issue with missing chips and a defective FDM. Ford still built the units, but then put them into the desert parking lot to await replacement parts. From past performance, I would say that they might get built, but just sit and wait in Mexico until replacement parts are available - Again!

Due to my work schedule I just don't have time to get to the Ford dealer during normal business hours only to have them tell there's nothing wrong with your brake pads. Brake pads are cheap and easy. Took me less than hour to do both sides - and apparently better than factory as they didn't lube the pins! I like fixing things :like:

Production does not appear to be stopped based on the emails people are getting. They put a specific date range on those affected so that means anything after 11/11 is not affected. My guess is they are doing what they did with the lot rot. They have the correct part now and are building them fine and the ones listed in the pic below are affected with those in this group that have not shipped, will not be shipped till fixed. Just my two cents

I suppose I was being ignorant lol I have 3 kids and I work so much I don’t really have the time to pull the car all apart and do brake pads.

It just seems that there is a big quality control issue with the manufacturers that Ford is getting their parts from. Unfortunately, with vehicles like the Escape, it's "Assembled In the USA" and no longer "Made In the USA".

Unfortunately it's not something that we should "have to do". It comes down to whoever owns the vehicles preference on what they would "like" to do to remedy the problem. I have the time, tools and experience to do the work and the biggest issue is the parts are not expensive and the work is not difficult.

Thanks for posting to OP. Thread title should say "Escapes" not "Escorts" :)

Lets see, take to dealer no loaner cars so someone has to pick you up drop you off, a lot of times incompetent mechanics fixing your car, might get scratch dent or stain in seat ect. Might have to take back again cause not fixed right ect ect ect. So anything I can fix myself I will fix. My plan is to avoid dealership monkeying with my vehicle if at all possible. My past experience with warranty work is complete incompetence and after several trips I fix it myself anyway.

Now how can you get recalled cleared if you fix yourself? Probably cant is my guess?
