Seems that Ford has had “tremendous success with repairs outlined in TSB 23-2308 but apparently Ford is working on another revision...”
Not available until 4th quarter...2024

There have been at least these 3 TSBs applicable to the rear brake noise, often called “moaning” and “whale sound”.

TSB 23-2308 (possible new TSB coming 4Q 2024)
Moan Noise In The Rear Brakes When Vehicle Is Driven In Reverse (R) In Cold Weather And/Or High Humidity, Supersedes 23-2041

Superseded: TSB 23-2041
Superseded: TSB 22-2326

Possible more info (cannot independently verify the info is correct), came from a Bronco sport owner

“My dealership tech told me it’s a bushing that’s barely the wrong size and it rubs (which sometimes causes rear brake noise while in reverse). He said the part is 6 months out (thus the 4Q 2024 fix). Is not dangerous, just annoying.”

There’s been several owners that replaced pads and or roters etc … some reported rear brake moan noise issue is gone, some said had no impact on the noise and some said the noise was gone for awhile then returned. There are many posts about that.

However … this thread is about Ford’s 4Q 2024 fix so would like to keep this thread on that topic. Thanks!

Shoot, my dealer just got the parts in to do the current fix on mine. I can’t wait until fall because I’ll be out of warranty then. Guess I’ll just cross my fingers the current fix works for me.

I took it in and had the "first" "FIX" applied and the noise got significantly worse. It used to only moan in cold, damp weather when it was first being driven for the day. But now it sounds like a very vocal, depressed whale, the entire time brakes are applied in reverse. Even after it's been driven for a while, even at lovely 80-90º summer temps. I took it back for the 2nd TS "fix", was told they had the parts in, then had it returned without fixing to wait for the parts to come in. It's been months and every time I ask about the parts arrival, I'm told they are on back order. I've pivoted to only pulling through in parking spots, or, when I can't avoid reversing, switching into Neutral to slow me enough that I can go into Drive. I get comments from co-workers on the wail every time. Annoying AF. BUT, I'm happy it's still the only complaint I have (except the 60/40 rear seat split, which really needs to have the 60% behind the passenger seat and not the drivers, so when you're car camping, sleeping in the back, you can leave the driver seat free and clear to hop in and drive away, in emergencies.)

Well, I guess I’m never getting this fixed. I had an appointment this week for the current TSB and the dealership called to say Ford has issued a stop order and won’t allow the parts to be installed now.

You initiated the warranty issue prior to your warranty expiring. They will keep attempting to fix it under warranty until the issue is finally resolved. Just need to bring it back to them if the issue returns.

Noise on my FE and wife's BS isn't bad enough to do anything. Will use up OE and switch to coated rotors.

See my update above — the dealership now can’t do the fix because Ford issued a stop order on the current TSB. I have to wait until they come out with the new one.

Just because they haven't done the work doesn't mean you haven't started the ticket. You will be fine.

I just dropped my BS off this morning after they ordered the parts then got a call from the service manager that they were not going to fix it due to this new information.
