So, let me get this straight: The lawsuit claims that "certain Bronco Sport and Maverick models have faulty 12-volt batteries," and Ford's resolution to replace the faulty batteries is "an ineffective waste of time,” and that “there is no true fix for the defect." Is there more to this than in the article? Does the plaintiff claim that the electrical system is the cause of the battery defects? The plaintiff says that replacing the faulty battery in his vehicle fixed fixed the problem, so I don't get the logic of this lawsuit.

Sounds like the plaintiff and his lawyers didn’t think this through; as it reads this should be a “loser”. And, this coming from the owner of a ‘21 BSBL who had to have the OEM battery replaced when it went bad overnight months before the recall was issued. IF Ford reimburses me for the new AGM battery (installed by Ford dealer) I’ll be thrilled, if not I figure I got a little over three years out of the original battery (not bad for a vehicle parked outside/driven in soCal). I don’t plan on suing Ford for “damages”.

More like, why did a lawyer take/file this case...A need for money greed by a lawyer I suppose.

My 21 has just under 30K and the battery had to be replaced at about 20K. My original battery was not an AGM. Ford replaced it without question. I did get some warnings that said the some non essential systems were turned off to conserve battery. Didn't really understand it at the time and sure enough after stopping for groceries later the car failed to start. So if you get a warning simply get to the dealer ASAP because the bat will probably fail. Ignore the warning and face the consequences of getting stuck. No problem since the battery replacement. Would like to see the warning change to something like See your dealer immediately for a battery check. Not worth suing over.

For awhile, our 2023 Outer Banks would sit in the garage, undriven. For 6 months, it had under 1200 miles on it. I did see a warning come up that that said some non essential systems were turned off to conserve battery. I did nothing, except drive it that day.

Then we sold my beloved F150. Now it gets driven daily. Got the recall notice about an update for the battery charge issue. Had that done.

Since it's purchase, it still has its original battery.

I think all modern cars use the battery when the car is just setting. Your warning was probably for that rather than a bad battery. By the time the 23's come out all of these Bronco Sports probably had AGM batteries. My first battery was not an AGM. It waist a lot of power with the constant starting and stopping.

nope my 2024 model (manufactured December 2023) came with / still has an EFB they didn't start installing AGM exclusively until around /march 2024. get the warning some systems shut down to conserve battery all the time if its not driven 40 minutes a day regularly. only car I ever owned that needs to be put on a trickle charger to keep it charged.

Don’t really need the trickle charger if the vehicle is driven sufficiently (20-30 minutes at 30mph or more for about 3x a week) … if left fully charged for a week or so without driving, might get some messages in FordPass or on the display but unless the battery is failing (say with high internal resistance etc), the messages can be ignored .. driving the vehicle often enough is key

Both the EFB and the AGM Battery are rated at Reserve Capacity 120 minutes which tells you that the Bronco Sport can easily be left for more than a week without driving. That assumes of course when the Bronco Sport was left parked the battery was pretty much at full charge.

However there may well be a pretty high parasitic drain (no one yet has reported measuring parasitic drain over a long enough period of time)
