I remember the "A & B Gas Days" (odd/even gas rationing) to buy fuel in California with multiple-hour waits in lines around the block for fillups in 1979. Then when we left California for Texas in 2022, diesel was over $7 a gallon and I had to fill up my 97 F250 with 38 gallons to start the trip (pulling a 31' fifthwheel). Cheers!
I was in kindergarten and remember being late for school. My teacher was like, "oh, ok," when she asked me why I was late one day and I said we had been waiting in line for gas.

A subcompact BS would be even tinier on the inside and still not much smaller externally. It already has less internal space than an Escape, just a little more than a Crosstrek. And that Crosstrek while externally having about the same dimensions as a second generation Forester has much less internal space.

The only subcompact SUV/CUV I can really think of recently has been the Nissan Juke and the Crosstrek, and the Crostrek is the only one that is doing well. And the Juke was discontinued in 2017 because it wasn't selling well. I almost forgot about the RAV4, but that hasn't been subcompact in a while, the latest version is more on par with a Forester or a Bronco Sport (and the sport has less room internally than an SJ... third gen... Forester... It's what I had before my Sport).

Look at the names mentioned in that article. It's talking about the Kuga replacement. That's been the Escape in the US since 2011, and the C-Max was only sold for like 2 years.

Remember that the Ranger was sold outside the US for years before it finally was sold in the US again. The first gen Ranger Raptor was released in 2019 but not until the second gen in 2024 did we see it in the US. The Everest was never sold here. The Falcon ute was only sold in Australia, and that was a pretty cool car.

Almost every maker has cars that aren't sold in one or more markets because of safety requirements, or they just don't think they will sell well. The tiny CUVs haven't sold well here or had to be upsized to sell, so why would Ford release another?

And Oz is also getting the Ranger Super Duty. I'm sure both that and the Everest would sell like hotcakes here.

"economy is in the dumpster, spending endlessly on an unnecessary-no- congress-approval war, gas in LA is $6.50/gal, inflation is up to 3.30%....worst president of my 42 years on earth"

Yep dumpster - my investments only returned a 28% return last year.

Spending endlessly, unapproved war - 2 months? Go ask Clinton and Obama about their unapproved wars. Congress has voted several times that they are ok with the action.

Gas prices in LA high - blame California politicians, everything in LA is expensive. Less than $4.00 in my city.

Worst? Remember Biden?

Yes, things are better than they could be if you can get past the stench. As far as Joe Biden goes, he had to deal with Covid and the biggest mistake he made was minimizing the effect that it had on the economy and then getting bitten when things just didn’t bounce back to normal. The way things are going now there aregoing to be a lot of desperate people and that’s not good.
Clinton never started a forever war and the one war he did initiate was backed by NATO. Obama never started any wars either, but he didn’t finish them. Biden did, and although there was a tragic loss involved with the withdrawal from Afghanistan, this most recent war started by current president has exceeded that tragic loss. I’m no expert that’s for sure but I can tell when someone’s putting lipstick on a pig.

I'm buying a used Honda Ruckus (100 mpg) and parking the Bronco for now 😂
California problems are, well, uniquely California problems. California is hardly a barometer for the country as a whole. Glad I no longer live there and never plan to go back.

Inflation peaked at 9.1% under Biden. It leveled out to around 3% by the time he left, so being at 3.3% now is really not a big deal.

Current data also shows that wages are currently growing in the US which is a positive.

My investments are currently growing very nicely.

No presidential administration is without fault, however the current one is nowhere near the worst.

Context matters. It was 9% for a reason, COVID. The country sacrificed inflation to avoid a massive recession. It was followed by 2 years of job growth until......

Heres my bronco in Baja

There are a lot of small trucks these companies already make for foreign markets that I think would kill in the US right now. I want to see the Ford Bantam in the US. They were very popular in South Africa when I was there and I loved em.

You could get them in a 1.4 or 1.8l diesel too and they are the right size (and probably price point) to compete with the Slate truck.
