You'd think that might say something about the human factors engineering if the truck needs steps for the people shipping it to get in and out of it ...

They're sky high. The first thing I noticed when the 2017 Body change came about was the step in height was nuts. Obviously this is an OSHA thing that Ford has had to do, but you'd be surprised at how many buyer's don't mind jumping up into the truck without any step at all.
