When was your Outer Banks built? Mine was built in January and has the wiring in it for the lit cup holder. Another member on here has one that was built in February or March and theirs doesn’t have the wiring. Did you check for the wiring before ordering the cup holder?
Yes, I suggest you take the old cupholder out to assure you have the wiring. My BS Outerbanks was built in February and does not have the wiring. I'm glad I checked before I ordered. There was another member on here that had the same issue. Best of luck.

It was build 12/21. I think I should be good. It has a ten day return window, but I can check the console later today. Thanks!

I have the lighted cup holder, part number Ford LJ6Z-7813562-FA. I found one and my 2022 Badlands is not wired for it. I will take $40.00 shipped to lower 48. I paid $48.76 on eBay Message me here

You should try to wire it up yourself. There's power to that area. Just splice in.

Tools Required:
-Pry Tool
-T25 Torx w/ratchet

First you will go inside your vehicle and locate the shifter dial/cup holder area.

Then you will pry it out from the front first as there are tabs in the back that lock it in place.

After removal of trim, flip it around on a side (optional to disconnect every connector if you want more wiggle room). I didn’t disconnect any other connector besides the pre-wired cup holder connector.

Once that is disconnected you can go ahead and remove the 3 T25 Torx screws holding the cup holder in place. Once removed just wiggle it off and remove it then install the new ambient lighting cup holder in its place and reconnect connector and snap it back and place and enjoy!

How do you recommend doing that?

Great info! I don't know if our '22 OB has the wiring but I would really like to have the illuminated cup holder. I have the trim tools and I've removed interior panels many times, but I'm uncertain as to where to insert a pry tool to pop the front of the panel off. There doesn't seem to be enough space to insert a tool and obtain leverage. Can someone please provide a little more detail or pictures on this process?

Try using a volt meter and get a readout for a wire that gets power when your lights are on or if you want to get technical I’m pretty sure you could tap into the footwell lighting.

Just try lifting it a bit from the top. The area that goes to the usb ports and it pops off fairly easy.

I’m concerned about voiding the warranty on the electrical components, so I think I’m going to either return or sell the ambient cup holder I purchased. I could check with the dealership to have them install which might help with the warranty issue, but not sure it would be worth the cost.

I have the part, but not the plug on my 2022 OBX built on 7/4. DM me if you are interested in the part. Paid $34.18, just add shipping to your neck of the woods and it’s yours.

If you look at the bottom of your cup holders, if there is a wiring harness plugged into the circled location in the picture, that's the wiring you need. It unplugs from there and plugs into the ambient lit cupholders.

Just want to ask a quick question. So if I understand everything there is a wire and harness in the console once the shifter cover is removed that the new cup holder will hook into?

Yes and no. Depends on when it was built. Mine was built in January and had the wiring. Another member has one that was built in February and didn't have the wiring. If yours is a recent build, you probably don't have it. I checked mine before I ordered the new cup holder.
