After getting lots of info and inspiration from this forum, and even building my own rudimentary setup, I decided to pull the trigger on a platform kit from Colfax Campers. As of posting this, the Bronco Sport isn't listed, but can be coordinated if you contact Logan (The owner) via the website or at [email protected].

The fit, finish and engineering that went into this platform is way better than I'd hoped for. It pretty much maximizes the usable space, while remaining modular enough to install and remove in a matter of minutes.

The sleeping platfrom is just over 73" long when extended, but still allows the drivers seat to go all the way back with the extension folded. I'm 6' / 195 lbs and can lay out fully extended with no issues.

I also added an EcoFlow Delta 3 plus (behind the driver seat) and Alternator charger (under the driver seat) to power the refrigerator and electric cooking set up.

*The kit comes stock in clear finished plywood, as shown on the website. I added Bully-Liner brand bed-liner finish to the drawer faces and contact edges, to give it a more uniform look.

Nice setup. I really like the latch/locking mechanism on the drawers. If you don't mind, pricing was about the same as the other solutions on their site?

Did they source a vehicle to get measurements, or did you help the process with measurements and template?

Any concern with access to the spare?

Nice to see that the Delta 3 fits behind the seat. I have one also, and knowing I can carry it easily is a bonus.

Yes - the pricing is the same as is currently listed on his website. One thing to note – he offered me $50 off for not including the passenger side sleeping platform extension. I decided to keep the passenger side open to make getting in and out of the sleeping area easier.

Getting to the spare tire is definitely a consideration. Moving the platform out of the way will definitely be an inconvenience, but also not a showstopper or reason not to use the platform. I do keep an actual tire plug kit and small compressor in the drawers – I was actually able to plug my last flat by removing a nail and plugging it without taking the wheel off – fingers crossed that’s all I’ll run into…

Logan showed me pictures of a bronco sport with the original prototype kit in it. As I was studying those photos – I realized that the vehicle he used didn’t have a full size spare tire and the cargo tray was in the lowest position so that started the dialogue between he and I including photos and measurements of my particular vehicle which he incorporated into my set up.

It’s actually not that big of a deal. The entire platform is modular. It comes apart and could be taken out within a matter of minutes. I can also just pull the whole thing forward up onto the seatbacks in case it’s raining out, etc. and I don’t wanna get everything wet.
