I was finally able to get this dreaded noise captured. It’s done it since I got the vehicle new. Upon acceleration and right as it’s shifting into the next gear I get a weird clicking that’s coming from directly behind the firewall of the driver footwell.
after the vehicle warms up(5 min of driving) it seems to go away but sometimes continues for a while. Any ideas? The dealership was unable to replicate the noise because I had already driven it 30 min and it’s pretty intermittent.
sound at 0:07s, 0:11s, 0:18s

Wow you win multiple awards for oddest sound while driving and for clearly capturing the sound and for identifying specifically when the sound occurs!!

😂 well dang I’ll take what I can get hahaha. In all seriousness that gives me the confidence to take it to a service manager, I didn’t know if I’m hearing it well cause I’ve hyper focused on it for so long. since it’s happened since new I’ve chalked it up to being normal and with the dealership finding no issues on previous sounds I was like welp I guess I’ll try and ignore it

Here's a SWAG for you:

These vehicles use drive-by-wire technology. That means your accelerator pedal is not mechanically connected to the throttle plate. The pic below is not a Bronco Sport, it's just to show you what the throttle plate looks like. The throttle plate in your car is positioned by an electric servo in response to commands from the powertrain control module. It's possible the rattling you hear is the throttle plate vibrating. The servo may be going bad, or the plate may have a loose connection to the servo. The only way to determine this would be to remove the intake tubing in front of the throttle body and either try to manipulate the plate by hand, or observe it while the engine is running.

I’ll take a look at that this weekend. Thank you for some input cause I’m completely lost. I watched this video (anyone who wants a full overview of what’s going on beneath the hood of the 1.5L I recommend watching this) and the clicking honestly sounds like it’s coming from where he points out is the electric motor to the gear selector but it’s impossible to really know. Plus wouldn’t explain why it’s happening upon shifting through the lower gears I don’t think

Another possibility is the fuel injectors. The powertrain control module (the engine's "brain") controls mixture by opening and closing the fuel injectors. Some injectors are noisier than others.

Never got around to checking (going to tomorrow after work) but found this video and I think you may be on to something.

Still unsure if the temperature of the engine would effect that and if it happening immediately before a shift makes sense for a throttle body plate but that sound is eerily similar to what I’m hearing

Another video today. I taped my phone to the firewall looking out through the hole in the firewall in driver footwell.

Yes sorry I should have clarified that was me going from stopped to 35-40 mph. I’m gonna take a look at the throttle body this weekend cause sometimes it does sound like the plate tapping but it also has an electronic relay kind of noise. It’s also directly before the transmission shifts up into next gear

I do plan on taking it in but their next available appointment isn’t for another month and I can’t drop it off due to no other vehicle to get to work.

I wonder if any of these TSBs are relevant to your rattling or clicking noise:

It honestly sounds like it’s coming from inside the black box in my second video. But I don’t imagine that would make any sense at all. This is the view of it from above directly below and behind the battery. Anyone know if there is any relays or solenoids of some sort in there?
