I ready to do my first Cleaning of my new Bronco Sport. I have read the manual on the manufacture approved way to care for my Bronco and the products to use. All manufacturer approved products are all Motorcraft. The manual also cautions car washes because they could damage the wheels and high pressure could damage to the Outer Banks emblem. So that leaves only hand washing. I have had a few cars in my life and these restrictions seem sever. I’m asking the community for help.

I have read many of the posts here. They are full of great advice. I’m looking for a low effort way to take care of my cares exterior and interior. Car washes are preferable as my time is very limited. My last car I kept well maintained mechanical and its appearance for 15-years. I’d like to beat that record.

thank you all.

Because you keep your vehicles for long time what are your thoughts on having Paint Protection Film (PPF) professionally applied, then have Ceramic coating (also professionally applied)… I’m super happy with the results and keeping the exterior clean is easy (low effort)

My 2022 Bronco Sport BB went through the car was fairly often and never had an issue. I prefer hand washing because I think I do a better job, but it's usually windy here and it's hard to dry it before the water spots get bad.
My new 2025 hasn't been washed yet.

I had my '23 OBX detailed with a coat of very good wax when it was new. Since then, I have it washed at least once a week at my local Delta Sonic car wash (Brushless) with no problems.

I have a 2024 Badlands and except for the carwash at the dealer, that I ask them not to use when I get service, my BS is washed at least once every two weeks. I use a brushless car wash and have not had any issues with my Badland decal coming off. I do go over it with a clean microfiber cloth to remove any remaining water and to wipe down the door jams. A couple of times a year I will use the most expensive option and have a wax application.

The wife and I run our 2023 Outer Banks through the car wash at least once a week (bought a monthly pass) and have had no issues with emblems, paint, or wheel damage. The first step has one of the employees spraying soap, then pressure washing the rims. Then the vehicle proceeds through the wash cycle, wax cycle, then dry cycle. Afterwards, we drive up to one of their stations and hand dry any water (they provide towels) residual, and vacuum. With the pass, we can go through as many times as we want per month.

Greenworks 1500psi pressure washer and foam cannon. Pre-rinse entire car, spray wheel cleaner on rims and clean with brush, rinse off, foam entire car, go over with hand wash mitt, pressure rinse off and dry. Wax or clay bar if needed.

You do not have to use motorcraft wash products. Use whatever you want, except dishsoap. I use Meguiar’s Gold Class, but always been curious about chemical guys products. My 23 gets a wash about every 10-14 days depending weather and time of year. No issues at all.

I like to clean my car at home, I use different car cleaning products from Walmart, as Meguiars, RainX, Mother's, Turtle Wax, Karcher, etc. You can find those at Auto zone as well

When we got the BS, I got some of the ceramic stuff at Walmart. It was garbage. I took it through the car wash and the overhead brush never touched the hood.

Ok, mine is over two years old, I read this thread, and I thought it should get its first cleaning.

There is a guy I like and trust. He explained a very thorough cleaning (engine, wheels, door jams, etc). I thought it sounded good until the price. Is $300 normal?

I should add, when he saw my face, he explained that it’d take 6 hours.

edit: as an aside, back in 2016 (or earlier) I hit a great shot in an outing for closest to the pin. I won a supposedly great home car washing kit. I took the tub and buckets for some other stuff and my wife took the chammies to school. Should I just throw all these other old bottles away?

Actually sounds about right for a complete detailing on a vehicle this size (2 seat sports car cost me about $200 a couple years back). To my mind the cleaning products should be fine if not left out and/or opened.

Bill, I am not familiar with PPF. I have spent most my life doing was and wax routine. This is something I’ll study.
