Bronco sport tire hitch

I need some help. I’m watching a swing out tire hitch for my 2021 ford bronco sport.
I’ve seen a few online but they a bit too expensive.
I basically just want to put the tire on a hitch that I can still open the trunk.
Any suggestions?

Every one I have seen have been very expesive and I'm not sure I would trust a cheap one. Lots of stress on that connection and a pretty heavy load bouncing down the road. If it comes off rolling down I-95 at 70 mph, you could kill someone. But, this one is pretty cheap.

It swings down. I looked at that one also, and decided I would not like it being on the ground right in front of the cargo area when the hatch is open.

You pull the pin and it pivots down out of the way.

The problem with all hitch-mounted carriers (for me, anyway), is that I use the hatch regularly, like a number of times per day. Having to lower/swing a carrier each time would be a ridiculous waste of time. I've needed to access a spare exactly once in the last ten years.

I get the desire for more internal cargo space (and the making it look like a big Bronco thing as well), but honestly, the value added isn't worth the extra effort and time. Bottom line, the juice ain't worth the squeeze.

I traded it my 2003 F150 last year and the spare tire never met the pavement once. I did lower it a little once to add air into it before a road trip to Texas.

It’s definitely a low percentage of needing a spare, but when you need it, you need it. Unless, you just enjoy sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck and the bill he brings. I haven’t had many flats either but I had a 3 month period where my wife and I had 3 flats. Two of them unrepairable. 2 on my car and one on hers. We were newly married and did not have a lot of money. Good times.

I frequently ask myself 'is the juice worth the squeeze?' with fewer marginal distractions the older I get.

Oh, definitely. I was mainly using that as a reference for how often I needed to access the spare vs how often I use the hatch. Lifting the spare out for that once-in-a-blue-moon scenario is fine.

Now, if I were going on a long road/camping trip and had the cargo area full of gear, the hatch will stay closed save for the initial loading, at-site unloading then reloading, and finally the at-home unloading. So three accesses in a multi-day trip. Having a flat in that scenario would be a PITA to unload everything, pull the spare, swap, then reload everything. Also keep in mind my "full-size" spare is still smaller than the road tires which won't fit conveniently.

That's a scenario where a hitch-mounted unit would make absolute sense in the event of a flat. If I see myself doing those kind of trips, I would definitely consider adding it to the travel kit.

More secure storage, being inside and under other stuff.
Great for camping.
A swing out adds like twenty seconds at most to opening the back. For those of us who are a bit older, this isn't much more than having to use a physical key to unlock back hatches.

The biggest negatives are that it blocks the backup camera and license plate. And also some of the view through the back window. One that is offset would help mitigate those issues. But then would cause the mount to twist in the hitch unless there were another anchor point. Maybe to some of the Bronco bolts, or something to the recovery point.
