Bronco Sport base camp / car camping + custom kayak trailer

Decided on trying out car camping this year and ditching the old tent. So far we've been to three provincial parks and plan on hitting 4 more this year!

I built a custom kayak trailer to start since I'm not a fan of lifting those heavy bastards around.

Wife found a SUV tent with lots of head room (like 8 foot) that attaches pretty quickly and is extremely water tight. The first trip it downpoured for 3 days and we were dry as a bone.
We got the LUNA air mattress for the back which fits perfect and is pretty comfortable.
A small movie projector for rain stays ( tent has pull down movie screen)

Still need some additional items like a hitch step for the wife to get in and out and two bug screen window covers for better air flow but so far it's been a blast.

Love that trailer! I load two lake/sea kayaks - a 14.5' and a 17' on top of the BSport by myself and believe me a trailer sounds better and better every time we go out!

I'm used to tossing it in the bed of a truck and thought the trailer would save some hassle. My yak is a 11.5 perception outlaw and weighs like 90lbs ish.
Great for stand up fishing, a brute to lug around lol

That's a sick rig! I couldn't find anything that I liked to I decided to just do it myself. If I was just taking my single yak I'd haul it flat like yours

You're not kidding. Throwing them up on the J's on the roof rack is getting harder and harder. Used to be I could do it myself, now I need a second set of hands if not anything to help guide it on. I have a 12ft Mad River Synergy and a 13.5ft Perception America but don't use them as much as I want to because they're such a pain to get on and off the roof. The Synergy weighs around 60lbs on its own. Maybe I need to get a small trailer and play around with it. Thanks for the idea.

How do you like the Gazelle tent? I've considered them but it appears they are pretty long when folded up. Do you transport it on the roof rack or in the vehicle?

I love the Gazelle T4 and my 11 y/o sets it up by himself in a couple minutes tops. Best tent we owned by a long shot (upgraded from Amazon car tents). Great quality tent and YT has plenty of reviews of it to vouch for quality. We carry it on the roof rack and it will fit in the BS with the rear seats folded.
