I’m a mechanical designer, and have a lot of experience in fabricating metal components. Looking to see if anyone has access to a 3D model of the BS. I want to fabricate a front and rear bumper cage! Hopefully this will benefit multiple people.

I’m looking for one that would replace the front bumper and be able to mount a winch.6000 lb, and be deer strike proof. I’m thinking maybe some bars that are vertical and t shaped for strength (maybe add the ability to bolt on some pioneer tools too). But keeping the approach angle is critical.

I like the idea. Replacing the bumper would take a lot more work since the whole front head unit is one piece essentially. If there was an easy to swap the bumper id go your route. Raise it up to get a better approach and make it fender bender proof.

I sent a request to Fab Fours the other day to request that they make something for the BS.

My ideation is that I can design and fab my own bumper for cheaper than someone else doing it for me haha. But let us know if you get anywhere with Fab Four!

So primitive Racing( pretty much dedicated Subaru rally/overlanding company; i ordered a BS because my forester was totaled) has this apparatus, mounts behind the bumper and replaces the sacrificial crush piece with 3/16 steel(instead of 16 gauge) as well as removes the sacrificial Styrofoam crush pad. Primitive XV Winch & Mount - Primitive Racing (get-primitive.com)

Something utilizing both the recovery points AND the bumper crush pad mounts so you have 4 mount points. would allow a seriously strong mount (for pulling) and distribute a lower speed impact pretty well so it wouldn't cause engine damage. Put the mounting points for winch plate behind the bumper, then drill through the factory bumper to get the bolts through and mount the plate. Since it(in my mind) would be only a single piece of steel (channel iron powder coated that would be 2.5ish feet wide and 1.5ish tall with some mounting plates(all behind bumper), and then a winch plate(in front/visible), and optional extra holes for "deer mitigation devices" that are basically like those push bars on cop cars.

I haven't got my BS BL yet so I can't really speak intelligently on this but if I start looking now I'll be ready to install in 2.5 months.
