Why has no one noticed, nor complained that Ford engineers have installed the bottle opener upside down.
What's that you say?
I guess one would have had to grow up in the 60's when soda came only in glass bottles in 6 or 8 pack cartons. And when we'd do the weekly grocery shopping, we would take those empties back to the food store and collect 2 cents for every bottle returned.
Your local pizza parlor served Cokes and Pepsi, Nehi, Stewarts and A&W Root Beer, and other non-alcoholic beverages by the bottle and they had a bottle opener screwed to the wall. One would hold the bottle near horizontal, push the cap into the metal opener, and pitch the bottom of the bottle down. The result is that the bottle is now vertical with the cap removed, and no spillage.
So what did the Ford engineers do?
Theuy designed and installed the bottle opener upside down. One starts with the bottle near vertical, then raises the bottom up, in a pouring type movement.
If one isn't careful, you can easily splash or pour your sticky beverage all over the back of the car.
I've seen several YouTube videos where the "reviewer" splashes their soda all over he back of the car.
Here's an extreme example, where the "reviewer" is overly zealous in opening his beverage:

Ford, what the hell is wrong with you? No common sense? Did any engineer try the bottle opener and see their mistake here? Or is it a joke on consumers who see this gimmick as a wonderful feature of the car?
Here's what a proper wall mounted bottle opener looks like:

Note how the still sealed bottle starts near 45 degrees to the horizontal, and then is moved toward the upright orientation, when the cap is removed by the wall mounted bottle opener.

And for some reason, just about every YouTube "reviewer" is excited and gleeful about the bottle opener on the Bronco Sport.
It's a fine example of Ford's poor or careless engineering, and mass hypnosis/hysteria.
Now that this is off my mind, I'm going to open an adult beverage using a proper "church key" bottle opener.
Cheers everyone!
