I'm starting this build journal to keep track of everything I'm doing and maybe give other people some ideas.

Here are my build specs:

2022 Badlands
Area 51
Tow Package
235/65/17 Wildpeak AT3 tires

Ford Bronco Sport Badlands - Overland Build IMG_1009 (2)_LI

The main item I've been working on is a drawer system for the back, the dimensions are 41x26x12. That should give me just enough room to put my recovery boards behind the drawers. The reason I chose this size is because it allows me to fit everything I need in the drawers including larger items like my stove & propane tanks and enough room for my cooler to sit on top.

it's not quite done but some progress pictures:

One side was designed to have a pull out work area and wide enough to fit my camping stove.

Tie down anchors for securing it, I did one on each corner:

I'm currently covering the top with a thin layer of rubber, not sure how much I'll like it but I can always remove and sand.

Next things on my list:
Cover the pull out work area in something fire resistant.
Building in some partitions to organize my camping and biking gear
Assemble and mount a smittybilt overland gen2 RTT (currently sitting in my garage)

I was watching your build thread with a lot of interest! Turned out fantastic!

What leg did you use at the of the pull out? I'm still debating using a piano hinge to attach a 20x24 extension to my work area. I left a two inch gap for that extension or a expanding leg.

Much nicer than my “camping kitchen” I made 40 years ago. Kept all my crap in it locked up on the picnic table rather than in tubs etc in the tent. Hopefully you will get lots of enjoyment out of it like I did mine.

My leg was an after thought I added right before the first trip I used the kitchen and I haven't upgraded it since. It's just a tension rod with a cane foot attached that can be screwed on or removed when packing up, but it works! It stores with the stove.

I would suggest adding adjustable feet on the side to fix sliding back and forth if you go off roading. I recently added those and it really helps.

Thanks!

Here is a close up of the bracket for the rotopax. It's been on the car for over 6 months and used many times. It's never moved even off-road and it's also easy to take off to use and fill. No concerns it's been great.

A couple of updates:

Rubber mat added to the top and finally mounted in the BS.

Work area added to the top of the galley drawer, on a piano hinge.

Ford Bronco Sport Badlands - Overland Build IMG_1068_LI

Propane fuel line installed, eventually I'll get a 5Gal tank but for now the 1lbs will work.

Later this week I'll be mounting my RTT, preparing for a trip this weekend.

Roof top tent has been installed but I'm not very happy with the way I had to mount it. It feels secure but I would prefer the rails to be directly on the metal.

Avoid the OEM cross bars if you want a RTT, I'll be replacing them eventually.

Did you have any issues mounting yours? I have a feel the OEM cross bars just suck.
we mounted ours on the Thule Evo Crossbars. no issues mounting. i also cut strips of rubber from an old floor mat to sandwich between the 'u-bolt' and the crossbar. just a lil added protection so it doesn't slip. but it never moved at all. i can't see you having issues.
