I have scoured the threads to learn about lifts and to help me decide which one to purchase for my 22 Badlands. I caught the off-roading bug almost two years ago. Last summer my husband and I explored a lot of trails in Colorado. I’m ready to add a lift, but:
1) how do I determine which of these kits are better?
2) where is the best place to get the lift installed… off-road shop or dealership? (Neither my husband or I are skilled in working on vehicles.)

People smarter than me will answer your question but I’m going to add another thought. Do you have skid plates? If not, since you have that off-roading bug, you may want your installer to do this at the same time.

Additional skid plates are definitely something that I plan on, (especially since I already have a hole in the front plastic).

I got the HRG 1.5" and the HRG Mid skid. those "felt carpets" don't do you much good if you get caught on a rock. Can't say I have much experience with Flat out never heard bad things, just know that HRG is one of the very few that specifically makes their products for the Badlands version, everyone else usually focuses on the other versions.

I added the HRG mid skid not the front skid (yet) opted to put the trail rax roof rack with pack rax and a borla cat back exhaust first. HRG is certainly the way to go, just on bolt and rebolt, no drilling or cutting or punching holes etc... Super simple the mid skid was 2 bolts and a reusing the factory bolts. Front skid is similar. Others like JCR require a lot more modification to install.

For full clarity. HRG lift is something that can be done with any mid skilled individual, the hardest part is torquing the bolts on the spacers and getting the rear spacers in place. If you are not skilled most decent dealers that install leveling kits can do it very common on F150's, and often offer warranty on the install. Do not let them sell you their cheap knock offs for lifts. The skid as I said was supper easy to install you just need a panel tool to pop out like 3 or 4 pressure clips and I think it was a 10mm socket. unbolt, remove, bolt the new skit on, then reinstall the factory bolts so that everything lines up. If you can can under it, you can install it. Not a question. The lift looks as if from the side it gives you 14 inches +/- of clearance but when you get underneath and measure you get about 10.3 - 10.5 inches of clearance depending on tire inflation with the 235/65's. For someone like me living in the mountains of Idaho, it made a HUGE difference. If you live somewhere like AZ or CA unless you go to those places it's not really a big deal. Best of luck on whatever you decide.

I wrote this article last week. We're planning on going with the 2" Flat Out Suspension and perhaps combining it with a subframe drop. My husband and I chatted with Blubaru on this forum who installed his Flat Out and loves it. A lot depends on your budget and what outcome you're looking for.

I installed the HRG on my 2022 Big Bend and loved it. I traded it in on a2022 Badlands and have the HRG kit for it on the work bench in my shop waiting to get the time to install it. So I obviously like there lifts since I bought another one.
Good luck on whichever you choose!

So… months has gone by, I was wondering how is the Flatout suspension lift , or others , drives like on and off the road. Is it “stiffer” than stock? Bounce a little on pavement? Smoother on wash board dirt roads?

I’m thinking of up size to 245/65 17 tires
