Put a GMRS transceiver in mine. Got a Midland MXT275 which has all of the controls in the handset. The radio is under the drivers seat. I ran the antenna wire along the rubber door seal, then out by the upper hinge to the hood. Power comes from the 12 volt outlet in the dash via an extension cable.

Installed an Icom ID-5100 2m/70cm radio. Radio body is tucked under drivers seat. Control head uses an A-tach mount with magnetic holder. (see pics) the antenna is mag mounted until I get a SUV lip mount for the rear hatch. Power comes from the 12 lighter jack up front.

Have a Yaesu FTM400 kept in a plastic ammo can. Drilled out holes for cables etc. Kept portable as it is also my base station. Had stereo shop run power wire through the firewall. Also have a portable Midland CB that can be used as walkie or connected to power point with external antenna.
