Hey everyone, I’m usually poking around on these forums regarding aftermarket wheels and tires but I haven’t found 100% of what Iv been looking for.
I have a 2021 OBX and want to do one of the 1.5” lifts (either HRG, readylift, or RC) and go down to 17” icon journey wheels. I know everyone does the 245 65 R17 tire size for aftermarket, but Iv been curious on if anyone has done a 255 65 R17 (or similar size) to get a little more width and poke from the tire? It’s a half inch wider than the 245 but I wasn’t sure if anyone has done that setup with the lift as well as if it rubs or not? I should note too the offset on the wheels I’m looking at is very similar to stock at 38mm.
Any help or guesses is appreciated, thank you very much.

There's a few people here running 255/70/17's with 1.5 inch lifts and claim no rubbing.
Lots of threads/posts here about tires and lifts, just do a search.

Yeah, I have seen one on here at least that is running 255 70 17s but it's with a slightly taller lift and badlands which is already taller anyway. That one didn't rub with the specs that he had on wheels and tires but it's a lot more lift than what I was planning on. Thanks for the advice though I'm going to keep poking around on that size and if anyone has done it on an OBX.

@ral19 just a thought, the 245 being more popular has readily available options in Falken A/T Trails, Nitto Nomad and Ridge Grapplers Etc, for example. I think as the 255 becomes more popular that might be the way to go. For now, I would recommend the more common size for convenience. That's a great looking wheel by the way.

Very true, I have been pretty set on ridge grapplers but they don't have them in 255 65 17, I have seen the Falken Wildpeak AT3 in 255 65 17 which is one I looked at as well. I just wanted to get a little more width without having to trim/rub. Thanks for the input.
