Hi all, bought my BS last week, and I have gone around in circles with the Ford Parts people directly, and the dealership parts guy. My BS came with just the spare tire KIT, no spare tire of any size. For the Cargo mats that supposedly fit, they both say in their descriptions that it fits for the compact spare tire MP1Z-7811600-AA, or the full-size spare tire MP1Z-7811600-BA. Even with my VIN, I am being given different answers as to whether they will fit. Can anyone here confirm which one will fit the cargo area that has just the kit? thanks in advance!

You'd want the one for the compact spare tire. With the kit and the compact spare tire the rear spare tire cover sits in the same position. With a full size spare it sits at a slight angle which is why there are two different options.

Did your sales rep set you up with the Ford Rewards account during your purchase? If so you should wait to purchase until you receive your new vehicle rewards point bonus. You should get 31k points which equates to around $155 when applied and will stack with the current coupon code.

So after reading this thread, I decided to look and see if I had a spare tire. I’ll be damned I don’t. This was never mentioned during the purchase process, but that’s my fault. I think I want one. A pump and a can of fix a flat is oy useful for slow leaks. For a catastrophic failure ie: blowout or slashed tire, I would need a spare or a tow. I have a modest lift and slightly larger than stock size tires so a mini spare may not work though.

Consider yourself lucky you found out before you actually needed one. What's included under the cover of despair when no spare is hiding there?

A big piece of styrofoam, for support, an air pump, and all of my vanquished foes since the dawn of time. (One of these is false. 🤨)

Ouch.....That sucks. Why they don't include it on all models and just adjust the price accordingly is mind boggling.

The enclosed area and cover look to be the same on all trim levels. The Badlands trim comes with a full size spare tire so it's doable. I guess the question is how much you want to spend on peace of mind.

I think I am going with the full size spare. My only unanswered question is will I be able to fit the scissor lift under the mat with a full size spare. I know I can make a spade fit.

In the stock configuration the scissor jack is mounted underneath the spare tire which is faced valve stem up if my memory serves me correctly. Of course it would depend on what scissor jack you bought in the end. You could also mount the spare stem down if needed.

No spade joke included.....

The spare tires were removed to save weight and gain a teensy bit of mpg

I measure my fuel consumption by the mpt method....Months per tank as I don't really drive that much anymore. Bought mid July last year and currently have 1513 miles on my Badlands.

I do the same with my full size truck. I put gas in it back in April and the previous fill-up was in November. Lol
