2025 BS Big Bend No power from stop

2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend , with Black diamond package 1.5l has 14k miles on it. This has occurred 4 times , after start up , auto start/stop is turned off , Eco mode , engine is running , put in reverse or Drive , almost non existent power from engine to trans , you can floor it and nothing happens , appears that RPMs will not increase , even when floored , no check engine lights , had to place in park , shut down and restart, seems fine then, then occurred again in a intersection, and once again in a parking lot. When Trying to describe what it feels like, if it was a turbo diesel I would say that turbo boost is non existent , or perhaps trans is in high gear ?, happened 4 times now since the 4th of July , getting it into dealer today , anyone experienced this ? It’s the Wife’s vehicle she is freaking ! Especially when it happened when making left Turn in intersection!

Sorry to hear about the issue, but these things are impossible to diagnose remotely. You would need some kind of code scanner to see if there are clues there. In your case, you should still have factory warranty, so while I understand there is an inconvenience associated with it, I would just let the dealer deal with it.

Thanks for the update. The vehicle spent the day at Peoria Ford for transmission diagnostics. No trouble codes were stored, and the issue couldn't be reproduced during multiple test drives.

As a OG (Old Guy) automotive technician, I completely understand that intermittent issues are nearly impossible to diagnose without actively monitoring live data during an event. I’m hoping it was just a random anomaly. While dealing with this would be a minor annoyance to me in my 2024 Maverick, it's my wife's daily driver, and she isn't going to tolerate unexpected vehicle malfunctions.

Maybe you have to swap vehicles with the wife for awhile to see what you can discern about it.

I agree! Perhaps the problem is specific to the GOAT mode switch or related - what happens when you have it in other GOAT modes?

Another thing: there is a MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) that is probably easily accessible (I no longer have my Sport). There could be a bad connection on it, or the sensor itself could be bad. On the big Bronco, the exact symptoms you have described is caused by a bad connection on the MAF sensor, which is inline with the intake. Just an idea - I'm not a qualified mafologist.

I would think that it would have thrown a code, but really it seems that anything that would cause the problem you're experience logically should have thrown a code.
