2025 BS Badlands Instrument Display

I looked in the owner's manual but didn't see anything on this. I'd like to have the numbers displayed on the analog speedometer. Is there any way to do that?

25+ BS vehicles allow you to customize the instrument cluster screen located in front of the steering wheel.

There is either an 8 inch screen or 12 inch screen depending on trim. Both size screens allow you to view an analog circular representation of the speedometer with a digital mph indicator in the center of the circular representation.

There is no way to attach actual mph designations around the circular representation. Your speed is indicated in the center of the circle.

Yeah, it's just a couple gauges in specific drive modes. Don't know why we can't go whole hog on personalizing the "desktop". I get there's some things that are mandated, but other than that I don't see a valid reason for the walled garden.

Hard to understand why Ford's towing package only provides 4-pin, and in the absence of providing an overprice solution, they force use of aftermarket parts.

It's almost certainly because of the tow weight limit of the BS. 7-pin is only required for trailer brakes (plus 12V aux and backup lights), and those aren't required for trailers under 3,500 lbs. With the max tow capacity of any BS being 2,700 lbs ('25 & up Badlands), there was technically no need, and a liability risk if an owner did try to hook up an overweight trailer thinking, "Nah, it'll be fine."

That being said, I would much rather have the standard 4-pin/7-pin duplex receptacle that Ford uses in literally every other car or truck with a tow package. I would prefer having brakes on a ton & a quarter mass behind me, and the aux power and backup lights are also kinda handy. That's one mod I'd like to accomplish, even staying within the tow limits.

Some states are 3,000, a few at 1500, and there are a couple that are higher, 4000 or even 5000, and there are one or two that are at like 10k. A half dozen states don't have a weight limit but have a stopping distance requirement so the weight varies.
In New Jersey they are always required.
In WA for example it's 3,000 as long as the weight on the the wheels of the trailer (including the wheels themselves too) doesn't exceed 40% of the weight of the tow vehicle.

I was a bit off (I conflated it with most lightweight axle assemblies being rated for 3,500 lbs). Federal minimums are 3,000 pounds or greater than 40% of the tow vehicle's axle weight (that part I admit to being unaware of). In the case of the mine, that would be 1,640 pounds (40% of 4100 lbs). Some states do have lower minimums as you mentioned.

However they only specify brakes, not the type of braking mechanism. The easy solution is surge brakes--which I hate. The proper solution is electric brakes and a 7-pin connector.

Maybe this is worthy of a class action for Ford not providing sufficient connections to meet FMCSR standards, given given the lowest-capacity BS can exceed the 40% trigger?

This is not the case in all states, each state determines its own weight limits when brakes are required. In CA, vehicle code 26303 "Every trailer coach and every camp trailer having a gross weight of 1,500 pounds or more, but exclusive of passengers, shall be equipped with brakes on at least two wheels which are adequate, supplemental to the brakes on the towing vehicle, to enable the combination of vehicles to comply with the stopping distance requirements of Section 26454"
Nevada and Idaho have the same requirements. New York weight is 1,000 when brakes are required,
