2025 Badlands Sasquatch on order
So I came across this video this am where a guy talks about how the MY2025 Bronco Sports (both the 1.5 and 2.0) are getting the new line of Ecoboost engine family called the MPC which stands for Modular Power Cylinder. It first debuted on the 2024 Mustang 2.3 and also the Ford Escape for 2023 for the 1.5 and the 2.0. He talks about it at 2:35 in the below video:

Digging around some more I found them talking about it on the Maverick forum, including engine diagrams:
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/2-0l-ecoboost-downgraded-to-238-hp.52390/page-2

Still not sue, I found videos of the engines in both the 24 and 25 Badlands - and you can see they are different by looking at the air intake hose. 24 - engine at 2:29

25 Bandlands Sasquatch - engine at 3:22

And finally, this guy gives a nice overview of the Ford MPC engines:

The jmc6000 YouTube video calls the MPC 1.5L, 2L and 2.3L engines “bulletproof”. Maybe that includes the 1.5L water pump (!) and based on info about the semi-closed block design sounds like coolant intrusion into the cylinders might be a solved issue. Interesting info regarding a ‘built-in a catch can’ as well.

My 2024 has digital gauges. I noticed the fuel gauge in the one he's showing is different than mine. Mine has flat bars either 8 or 10 of them. I shouldn't have traded my 2015 RAM 2500 long bed diesel for it.

Outer Banks and Badlands have the digital gauges. Big Bend and Base do not.

I like the “real” gauges, you can still see them when the sun hits the dash from the rear. Hated the dash on my Edge’s as you couldn’t see a damn thing on the dash when the sun was behind you — spent a lot of time driving with my hand over the gauges trying to make them visible 🤬

added: I’m also old and grumpy <lol>

The digital gauges sound nice, but I kinda like the analog ones in my base model. Anyone else prefer the older style, or am I just being old-fashioned?
I'm old, so I like the idiot lights that my 67 Camaro uses. Been reliable for 57 years now...

In terms of worrying about the amount or extent of electronics in modern vehicles, I do tend to agree - everything is programmed with its own diagnostics procedures, firmware, special dealer tools, etc... I went for a Ford Protect extended warranty for a reason.

In terms of the 2025 BS vs the earlier models...I'm not that concerned in terms of electronics. If you get the 360 cams it's a couple extra cameras, I've never had a camera fail or known someone to have it fail in a vehicle.

For the gauge cluster, it's really just personal preference, and it's totally acceptable to have a personal preference! It's a reason beyond offroading where some people buy the BS instead of an Escape, for the exterior looks. But the instrument cluster is already completely digitally controlled and has been in Ford vehicles for years.

I had the instrument cluster reboot more than once while driving athighway speeds in my 2015 Ford Fusion. Both digital screens turned black, then white, and the speedometer needle (analog) went grey and walked back to 0, before turning blue and doing the walk from 0 -> max speed -> 0-> return to actual vehicle speed. Point being, analog needles are just moving to what the vehicle's computer is telling them to.

A digital gauge cluster is actually more likely to be more reliable with no moving parts. If the computer fails to give proper output to the gauge cluster, an analog display/gauge also won't work.

Mechanical assemblies with moving parts are orders of magnitude more likely to fail than a digital display. The flip side is if a mechanical fuel gauge fails you don't also lose your speedometer.

All have the same dash for 25
Post I was responding to wasn’t talking about 2025s. He was talking about his 24 OB gauges versus the BB in the video.
