Lately I have been hearing a deep groaning sound coming from the rear axle area. This only occurs at low speed while turning left, but mostly right. I made an appointment with my Ford dealer. After a proper diagnosis and verification of the complaint, they informed me that they changed the rear differential fluid, but the problem still exists. Somewhat slightly better, but still there. The dealer told me that they ordered a new differential to be installed. Since the vehicle has 31,000 miles, its covered thankfully under the engine and powertrain warranty. This drive component is currently under a large backlog by Ford. Seems like many other units are experiencing this problem. The dealer tech also recommended that when they install the new differential, they will install a breather kit, which apparently is a design problem that caused the failure of the differential. The breather kit I will have to pay for and the cost they quoted was $200.

Contact Ford Customer service, it’s unusual you would need to pay for the “design problem that caused the failure of the differential”

Hey there. Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you are currently working with? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your Bronco's repairs.

The differential went out on my 21 BB and it was out of warranty. It cost $3,000 to fix it. 😈

I see that you are with Ford Company, As of now I am satisfied with how my dealer is handling this situation, other than the differential being on back order. I don't want to share my VIN number on this site, because I cannot control this private information. Is there another way we can take this off line and verify who you are? Thanks for your reply, I mean no disrespect, only concern over my private information. Regards.

I had to pay ZERO for this TSB to be performed under warranty. Neither should you.
