Bronco Sport 2026
Hi group,
Today marks 2 months since I picked up my Bronco Sport Badlands from the dealership, so I wanted to share my experience. I’ll leave some photos as a way to represent these first months. The idea is to share comments and experiences and also hear from you to see what your opinions are.

General evaluation
Overall, I’m very satisfied. I think it’s a very well-balanced vehicle between daily use and off-road. It delivers what it promises within its segment and for my goals.

  • Build quality (in certain details, not the visible ones haha)
Something that surprised me is the quality of the clips and panel fasteners. In other cars, you remove panels a couple of times and they become loose or break. Here you can tell it’s designed to be worked on without breaking everything in the process. And since I like modifying my vehicles, I see a lot of possibilities to work on it, both electrically and mechanically.
  • Off-road capabilities: For me, the best part of the vehicle.
I tested it in Sand dunes (Villa Gesell), Mud, Slopes (Tandil), Highway.
The traction system works really well.
In the dunes I ended up recovering other vehicles, and this week I also helped a vehicle that couldn’t climb a slope in Tandil.
For the type of vehicle it is, I think it’s excellent.
  • Overall behavior: Very good balance between on-road and off-road. It feels safe and controllable in different conditions, wet roads, etc. (again, I compare it with vehicles I know: I previously had a Duster, then a Ram Rampage, and experience driving other vehicles occasionally)
  • Fuel consumption: In the city: it consumes quite a lot, but it’s logical for a 2.0 with 250HP, so I don’t complain. On the highway: below 110 km/h it really surprised me in a good way, very efficient. If you push it more, consumption increases a lot (aerodynamics don’t help), but it’s totally expected for this type of vehicle and these CUBE-like geometries.
  • Interior / ergonomics: I really like the ergonomics overall.
The tailgate table is very useful for daily use or short trips. For long trips: it’s not the most efficient in terms of space.
I would like to be able to place it higher to free up space underneath.
I will probably make some modification to better separate the cargo area from the cabin for safety reasons. I’d like to carry load (thinking about long trips) without it being loose inside the cabin.
  • Long trip comfort: Clear negative point: very noisy on the highway. The rest of the comfort is great. I changed the tires but that didn’t improve it. For me it’s mostly aerodynamics (it makes sense that it consumes fuel because of aerodynamics, but I find the wind noise very high… really noticeable and annoying at higher speeds).

I found the door seals to be very good (on dusty gravel roads with very fine dust, the seals worked VERY well keeping dust outside. I checked all around the 4 doors and the tailgate, and honestly it performed great. That’s why I don’t suspect the seals when it comes to noise. I’ll attach a photo where you can see dust outside the seal and the inside clean. It may seem minor, but after 4 days of fine dust it gives a very good impression of how well they work).

  • Sand performance: With lower tire pressure, I found the behavior to be excellent. Despite the limited ground clearance, the traction system works very well.

My conclusions of negative / improvable aspects:
A LOT of highway noise, really annoying. Does this happen to you as well?
It doesn’t have an independent speed limiter (only cruise control).
Factory tires are very road-oriented and not very robust for off-road (I already changed them and now I run all 5 tires the same, larger, wider, and with a more aggressive tread).

On the other hand, I’ll share a bit more…
I bought a FORScan cable:
I’m about to start working on configurations.
Thanks to all the information shared in forums and by people contributing (Gabriel Moustain here in the group has helped a lot).

I’m also building a custom roof rack for: off-road lights, Starlink, ham radio antennas, recovery boards, etc.

My conclusion after testing and pushing it a bit is that it’s obviously not a hardcore off-road vehicle, but within its category it’s very capable, very versatile, and allows you to get into more demanding situations than one would expect.

If you’re interested, I can share updates later on FORScan, the roof rack, and new off-road experiences.

Is anyone else using it in sand or mud?
Anyone else experiencing high wind noise at highway speeds?
I’d be interested in comparing experiences.

I also have a Badlands. It's actually great that your using yours for what it's intended for. Your observations are correct. Fuel mileage will suffer if pushing higher road speeds, though if the roads are open and flat the fuel mileage is still pretty decent. Yes road noise at speed can be an issue, I also have Falken 245 65R 17 Rubritrek tires and as they have worn have added to the road noise. Speaking of tires, you will get the biggest improvement off road by switching to a more aggressive tire. I've driven in snow, sand and hardback terrain, the GOAT system does a great job of maintaining traction, I typically stay in normal mode until I start loosing forward momentum before switching to a GOAT mode. You do have to keep in mind that the Sport while capable is not a heavy duty off road rig, ground clearance is a big issue which will get your attention. Another Sport issue is the towing capacity. For the latest model years like yours the towing capacity has been increased, my Badlands is a 2021 and the capacity is lower which I think was a mistake at the time. Anyway, Happy trails.

Thanks a lot @RSH for your feedback, really appreciate it.

I completely agree with what you’re saying, especially about fuel consumption and road noise. I’m currently running 235/65R17 AT tires (not stock ones) but I almost notice the same noise than with original ones. Fully agree on the tires, that was one of the first things I changed. The difference off-road is very noticeable, especially in sand and loose terrain.

Regarding the GOAT modes, I’ve been using a similar approach. I tend to stay in Normal as long as possible and only switch modes when I start losing traction. So far it has worked really well.

And yes, ground clearance definitely makes you think twice in certain situations 😄. That’s probably the main limitation I’ve felt so far, especially in more technical terrain and at very soft sand.

Good point about towing capacity too. I wasn’t aware of the difference with earlier model years, but it’s interesting to know.

Thanks again for sharing your experienc, always good to compare notes with someone actually using the vehicle in similar conditions.

I have the optional Falkens (235/65-17) and find them perfect for what the vehicle has the capability of doing and not terrible noisy. My soft material driving is snow and not sand but find the Sport great in the snow with the optional tires. Serious off roading is limited by the lack of ground clearance for my comfort. I have a full size with 315/70-17‘s that I’m much more comfortable off road. Even the 35’s are somewhat small given that many are on 37’s nowdays.

First, I'd like to congratulate you on your purchase and your review. I agree with everything you said. However, one point is that mine still has the factory Pirelli 225 tires. I know it's not intended for off-road adventures, but I think my vehicle is extremely quiet with them. And that's what makes me a little hesitant to change to a higher profile tire. Another thing, I saw in your information that you mentioned it's a 2026 model. Are the 2026 models already being sold in Argentina? Because here in Brazil, only the 2025 model is available. If so, is there any difference between the models?

A big hug from Brazil

Hi Paulo, thanks a lot for your message and comments!

Regarding the tires, if your main off-road use is going to be sand, honestly the factory tires are 100% capable for that. I changed mine mostly because I tend to be a bit rough with vehicles and I do a lot of driving on rocky terrain and harder trails, where I wanted a stronger sidewall and a more aggressive tread.

About the model year: in Argentina, when you buy a new vehicle around November or later, dealerships already start selling it as the “next year” model.

Even though mine was delivered in March 2026, the vehicle itself was actually manufactured in Mexico during 2025.
I’m honestly not sure where Ford officially validates the “true” model year designation, because commercially it sometimes gets a little confusing here in South America 😄.

Big hug back to Brazil from Argentina.

Congratulations on your purchase and glad you are having fun with it! I live in the Midwest but my off-roading is primally in the desert southwest, no trails here . The trails are primaliary dry dusty and rocky trails. I much prefer going slow, coming to an obstacle thinking there is no way I can get through this. Then thinking about it , pick a good line , then feeling accomplished when I make it through. Not a big fan of sand. I don't like the engine revving at high rpms for long periods and putting a lot of stress on the engine and transmission. Plus sand in so unpredictable as I found out on a recent trip to Baja California Mexico. I really don't notice much wind and road noise, not much different that my 2015 Escape was. But then again I tend not to drive too fast. No more that 65 mph towing on the interstate , around 70 when not. I am on my 3rd set of BF Goodrich Trail Terrains. I swapped the 225 Pirellis and 235 BF Goodrich's. I am just shy of 100,000 miles, so far so good (knock on wood)!

Congrats on your new vehicle! GREAT write up!

I agree on most of the points you mention. The only exception for me is the build quality. I'm somewhat disappointed.

Interior clips (i.e. power window switch panels) are junk - they don't stay in place, and the panels they are supposed to retain rattle.

There are dents on top of most of the doors just outside of the window channels. The paint is perfect so I'm pretty sure they were there from the beginning in the assembly plant before paint. Can't believe it passed QC and received OK to ship like that.

It does have some road noise, but that doesn't bother me too much, and I have upgraded to 245/65/17 AT4Ws. I don't notice a big difference in noise between those and the stock Pirellis.

Bought mine used with low miles and despite the minor concerns above, I'm doing everything preventative I can to avoid the major common issues (transmission, RDU. etc.).

I do like the ergonomics and features, but the interior feels a bit cheap. Overall, it does what I want it to do and I agree it's crazy capable for what it is. It has a good balance of fuel economy, performance, and practicality for my current use case.

I plan to keep it for at least a few years unless something major goes wrong. If that happens, I'll fix it and move on to something else.

I’m six months into owning my 22 latam spec BS Wildtrak, and I couldn’t be happier. Because of the rules in Europe re winter tyres, I fitted Michelin CrossClimate and spent some time in ice and snow earlier this year, and since then mainly road trips. I find it surprisingly comfortable for long trips, I don’t have an issue with road noise, and I agree parcel shelf could be a tad higher and stronger, but frankly it’s a great all-rounder and for the price surprisingly well built.

The road noise was the first thing I noticed in my 2024 BSOB, louder than my 2015 Ram diesel 2500 4x4. I don't notice wind noise though. I know it doesn't climb worth a shit with the factory Michelin tires. I really like it though, but I miss my RAM it only had 37000 miles on it.
