Notable trails I've done are Yankee Hill Road in Colorado, and the south loop of Fins and Things in Moab. Both of which I did with factory suspension and Falken Wildpeaks aired down to 20psi. Both of which I felt like I really needed to get a lift kit afterward and better skid plates. Traction...
If you want a "respectable offroader" then you are not getting around this. With a set of all terrains, the only thing stopping the BS from being an off-road juggernaut is ground clearance.
Consensus is that HRG makes the current best spacer lift to add 1.25-1.5". They make a subframe lift as...
Just got back from Moab. Hit the south loop of Fins and Things and had a blast. That makes 1 notably difficult rock crawl a year, but I don't think I'll hit anything that gnarly again until I get better plates, some rock rails, and the 2.5" HRG lift.
You're trolling right? The brake noise everyone talks about is not a normal squeaky brake. It's a resonance in the whole brake assembly and it happens regardless of environmental factors. And it can be very loud. Consider yourself lucky if yours isn't too bad.
Other then that, the car has been...
Zero issues in 1.5 years except for the brake noise. But it is unacceptably loud. I don't think people are being nitpicky on that issue. It sucks very badly and needs to be fixed.
Perfect example
Great write up and pics. I'm incredibly interested to see if ceramic pads make a difference for you, as that is my logical next step. I did contact the Ford rep who reached out to me a while ago and left them a message. Still no word back. Granted, unless they offer me new pads and/or rotors...
Installed a GMRS radio and cleaned up some old wiring while I was at it this weekend. The radio is powered by my Auxbeam 8-gang relay board. The 3-way switch in the glove box switches the Auxbeam panel from an aux power fuse to a constant on fuse, in case I want to run the radio or lights while...
I was ready to replace my aging sedan with a Forester, even though my wife already had a Forester. Then I realized the BS was a thing and it was a no brainer. More power, more off road chops, not another Forester (good car, just didn't want 2), slick looking, I could go on.
So several days after my second visit... It's gotten louder. Pretty much no difference from after they initially did the work.
I'm going to wash the vehicle tomorrow. If the weather here is warm enough, I'll hit the rear brakes with the pressure washer, but I'll probably be relegated to the...
The Yucca platform has a side mount system. That's probably what he's rocking.
EDIT: I'm wrong. Yucca's side mount is way up high. Not over the windows.
DOUBLE EDIT: It IS the Yucca platform. They sell a seperate "Zombie Guard" that goes over the windows.
It's been 2 days since the rework. According to the tech, they uninstalled the new parts, removed all the old grease, then reinstalled them with new grease - and plenty of it.
The noise is ALMOST entirely gone. Far better than the crazy loud constant version of it I had after the first service...
I haven't done my off roadeo session yet, but I will be in Moab next month to meet with some friends. We plan to do some light-medium off roading for a day. I'm also curious what options folks have.
The loud whistle and lack of power sounds like the intake manifold and/or throttle body again. Not Canadian, but I suspect you'd be better served contacting a lawyer familiar with lemon law, rather than any advice you'll get here.
If those are the install instructions I think they are, they involve removing the headliner to access the rail mount holes from inside the cab. I've heard there is another option that involves popping off the plastic trim that your wire is currently taped next to. The wire will still be exposed...
It was hairier than expected. This was last spring and it was pretty washed out from the snow melt. Definitely required some careful lines. A spotter wasn't 100% necessary, but it certainly helped me get through with only a broken mudflap. You will need to air down your tires, and bring some...
Just throwing my experience into the fold. Moan started for me a couple months after getting the BS in late 21. Only ever on first backup of the day.
Heard of the TSB and had the job done at AutoNation Ford Littleton, CO a couple weeks ago. Now it moans louder and every single time I back up no...
Sorry for such late replies. I'm a troglodyte who doesn't check my notifications on this forum.
I used the boot on the passenger side. Small incision with an exacto knife, and pushed the 5V accessory power wire through. I also used the grommet on the driver door sill for the switch panel...
