  1. VIN Decoder Doc Reconfirms 2021 Bronco Sport Engines (1.5L and 2.0L) and Trims (Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, First Edition)

I have a 2018 Escape SEL 4wd along with the 2009 Mariner. Both are good winter vehicles, but I prefer the boxier, V6 Merc. The Escape feels smaller inside than the Mariner, so I probably will get the Bronco, For now, the Sport is a pass. Too many good SUVs available that are built in this country.
  2. Please bring back the two door Bronco or Pickup

A Bronco Pickup is tentatively scheduled for the 2024 model year. Speculation is that it would be a stubby T6- (current Ranger pickup) based truck: a 2-door or 4-door short bed on the 112" WB of the Bronco. Another possibility is a C-2 (Bronco Sport, Escape platform) which would be a unibody...
  3. Interior of Ford Bronco Sport Revealed!

Just to clarify, the one in the orange trim is the Keyless Ignition, The circled "A" button on the console is the Auto Start/Stop, and the one next to it I think is Cross Traffic Alert on/off. The three above those on the console are: Drive Mode( Sport, Snow, Eco), Hill Hold on/off(?), Self...
  4. Interior of Ford Bronco Sport Revealed!

I think I saw somewhere on this forum or Bronco6G that orange-only accents are part of one of the trims. Don't know if that also applies to exterior color(s) E parking brake? No handbrake turns. Dial shift might prove awkward to rock it out of a mudhole or snowdrift. The "M" on the knob is...
  5. 2021 Bronco Sport spotted again (next to Explorer)

Looking at the allegedly "leaked" specs, the Sport is shaping up to be "all hat and no cattle" IMO. There has been nothing that I've seen on this forum to suggest that it will be anything more than a rebodied and maybe mildly lifted C2 Escape. Nothing about lockers, suspension differences, or...
  6. Anyone Used Spacer Lifts?

There are several threads dealing with lifting and oversized tires on the 3G Escapes over on Escape.org. Pros & cons, some have had good results.
  7. 1.5L Ecoboost Dragon Engine Review by Car and Driver

I wrote up a brief impression of the Dragon-powered 2020 C2 Escape that I drove, on an Escape forum I'm on (I'm chrisgb over there). Car and Driver is a little more euphemistic than my impression: "throaty warble? "Faint boominess?"
  8. VIN Decoder Doc Reconfirms 2021 Bronco Sport Engines (1.5L and 2.0L) and Trims (Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, First Edition)

If so, I already have an'09 Mariner. It may have some dirt cred, as the wheelbase is 2 in. shorter which, would theoretically at least, offer better breakover angles. The nose is also more "chin up" than the Escape's for maybe the same reason? Still, nothing on suspension, I probably won't do...
  9. 2021 Bronco Sport spotted again (next to Explorer)

Don't forget their Italian cousin: Fiat 500X. All are derived from FCA's Small Wide 4X4 platform
  10. VIN Decoder Doc Reconfirms 2021 Bronco Sport Engines (1.5L and 2.0L) and Trims (Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, First Edition)

I drove a 2020 Escape SE with the 3cyl 1.5L Dragon when I had my 2018 Escape in for a field service action. I put 67 miles on it and it's not ready for prime time, IMHO. With the new 8-spd automatic, it is tall geared and short shifts. There is a booming drone from 45 mph to 65-70 mph. At...
  11. Who's hoping for a Manual Transmission?

AHH, the good ol' days, when there were "secret codes" for special engines and suspensions. Cadillac would paint to order any color you wanted. As far as manuals, I suspect hitting CAFE numbers will have something to do with it, hence all the 8,9,10-speed AT's as standard on most vehicles...
  12. Who's hoping for a Manual Transmission?

It becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. The vast majority (all?) American dealers sell off the lot for spot delivery, and their inventories reflect that. In Europe, about half the customers order theirs out, so you see a greater diversity in equipment and option content. The factories don't...
  13. Side shot of Bronco Sport on the road looking like LR4

Thanks, everyone! I think I'll keep my 2009 Mariner now,
  14. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Spied Nearly Undisguised From Every Angle

Good detective work! To add on to @Jomo, the seldom seen Fiat 500X is also on the Compass/Renegade platform.
  15. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Spied Nearly Undisguised From Every Angle

Looking at the specs, Bronco will go head to head with the Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Land Rover Discovery. I am "spread sheet challenged", but if you go to their websites, you'll see how comparable they are.
  16. Bronco Sport now in dealer system revealing trims, colors, packages, options, engines, transmission

1.5L Ecoboost 3cyl /8spd AT as the std powertrain: I was afraid of that. If the 2.0L will only be available with higher end trims and/or packages, I'll wait to see what the hybrid packaging will be. Disappointing. So far it's a Rugged-Looking C2 variant. I'll wait for the specs, but this ain't...
  17. 2021 Bronco Paint Colors Revealed - Will The Bronco Sport Get These?

Black, Charcoal, Magnetic, Silver, Platinum, White. Pigment costs money and F stock is under $6.
