Heh! ...exhaust not bothering wild life...
I never noticed wildlife being bothered while driving an old Jeep CJ with custom 2.5 inch exhaust, a cat and and a turbo muffler... (not obnoxiously loud but not all that quiet either!)
The deer just take a couple of steps off the road and turn to see...
I had planned on getting those side guards, from amazon, but a better/closer reading of the product ratings showed that they are, apparently, white ABS that has been painted black, and the stick on tape that they come with is, apparently, marginal.
Rather than pay ford $350 for decent side...
Actually;
I was thinking , as I was looking for places inside my BS to squirrel gear away, that it is so much bigger, inside, than I'm used to that packing the camping gear inside will be, almost, no challenge at all.
I'm used to packing gear into an old school Jeep; roughly 3' x 3' x30 inches...
During off roading the only difference that I have seen is that flooded batteries can spill.
and I doubt that These BS's can get in those positions without rolling; or otherwise getting all four tires off the ground.
Enjoy!
I really like the increase in off road performance of longer tread patches, I like wider tread patches too, but it means substantially lowering the air pressure (I get nervous below 7-10 psi, which reduces my enjoyment...
I doubt the ability of this vehicle to take/live long with 13 inch wide...
I had 235/15 wranglers on both the XJ (cherokee) and the explorer. They were a good street tire.
I believe that I will fo back to BFG off road tires on this BS; it needs all the help it can get, IMO
Ground clearance is very limiting off road.
Enjoy!
Based on experience with a number of other vehicles: I'm going for a relatively large lift, and somewhat narrow tire tread. My favorite all around tires, had roughly 9.5 inches of mud tread.... so that is pretty much a minimum.
AS I get farther into the lift we will see how the composite/felt...
Just pulled the trigger on a 2.25" lift

I'm sure that I will post more info as the project evolves...
Enjoy!
Unless or until someone (Are you listening BFG?) offers a similar sized (245) MUD tire, with large open lugs; I will likely eventually end up with a set of MT's.
The straight sidewall is a real down check as it will likely reduce flotation ability in mud, sand and snow.
... the restrictive...
Today I expect to measure the backseat foot wells and see if there is a case that will fit them well; (I really wish Ford had given me a 2 door option...). No desire to even investigate the 2 door full size; its simply too big. (I have no need to compensate for small/short things....)
I...
Yes, I'm still looking for other options though, I'm going to investigate some; under the back seats/replace the back seat, storage first; I got good storage in the Jeep cherokee XJ by doing this.
Also by storing some round things like rolled jumper cables; snatch strap etc in the space in the...
...Put on the receiver hitch hole plug...
...looked for hiding/storage places for the rest of this stuff... Might have a clue on a fire extinguisher mount... I'll post it if it works.
Enjoy!
Over the last few years my camping setup really hasn't changed much; its mostly vehicle independent. Here's the setup with the last daily driver (explorer) it won't change much with the Sport (pics will happen when it gets warmer, there is still snow & cold in the mountains right now).
I use...
The title says what are you going to get next... It wont be a recent production Ford.
I don't really care what light wheelers think of my current vehicle; (2025 BS, Big bend, black diamond). Or how it compares to other unacceptable, widely available vehicles.
I took a chance on Ford, and...
Started gathering camping tools; since summer is on the way;
compressor in a can: for airing up.
G. I. Mattax
G.I. trifold shovel (the chinese version will just fold/self destruct).
Svensaw, larger size: firewood prep.
Now I have to find places for them.
Enjoy!
I have done most of the 4 rated trails (old rating system) in Moab with a, lightly modified (Dana 44 in place of the Dana 35) Jeep YJ Not the most capable vehicle either; including hell's gate hell's revenge etc. Pritchett canyon run from the river end toward the main highway has always been a...
I have wheeled with some very good very aggressive women wheelers; Let me say they are relatively rare In my experience. ('Though I expect that everyone has a story).
Perhaps I'll be surprised when I take this offroad (though I think it unlikely)...
The low ground clearance, atrocious approach...
...Let me think;
...my experience with this BS over the last 3 months shows it to be
an over computerized, over complicated; basically; street/maintained roads only, vehicle, apparently designed for women/girls/picnics; my minimum off road tires 12.50x33 inch MUD tires will not even fit, and it...
