I would do at least a 235/65/r17. You can go as big as a 245/65/r17 which I believe the falkens also come in. There are several good tire options in those sizes. I did the cooper AT3 4S since I'm mostly in the city but hit up the farm from time to time and others on here can recommend some other...
There are two oem options, the pirellis you have are the 225/65/r17 or you could have upgrades to the 235/65/r17 falkens. You can of course put those on now after the fact but you'd be paying full price for them new instead of just an upgrade. Are you taking it off road or just around town?
The Cooper AT3 4S is what I went with again as its lighter and quieter than the KO2s and our vehicle is driven in city 90% of the time, but when I have taken it off road they performed beautifully. KO2s still a great option. I put the Pirelli's on our old Mariner because as stated above, they...
Correct 245/65/r17 or 235/70r/17 seem to be the largest with no rubbing and no body mods. I can personally confirm the245/65/r17 has no rubbing. General consensus from almost every forum you can find is 29.5in is the max you can go
I've always done the certs from DT, for some reason nails have a way of finding my tires and in generally unrepairable locations so they've paid for themselves several times over the years.
Also, side note, as someone who works the retail sector, I'd encourage extended warranties more and more...
My hand gage shows about 2 lbs less than the dash does and as mentioned the manual says do not go by dash. 40+ is for sure way too high but I wouldn't be super alarmed by being off by a pound or two.
The ATR is much more of a road tire than a AT tire. Took those off my badlands and put them on our Mariner when we put the Coopers on the badlands. The ATR is okay for stock but I highly recommend upgrading to the coopers or several of these others listed on here.
Just throwing these out there as I've been SUPER happy with them, I've got the 245/65/17 Cooper AT3 4S, similar in weight to the Toyo's but should be a little more comfortable.
I think I've lost maybe .5-1 mpg from the stock 225 pirelli's. But only had 400 miles on the car when I swapped em so...
That nudge bar doesn't for you to remove the tow hooks, some of the others I've seen do, where does that mount? That build is gorgeous! Probably my favorite so far I've seen!
I've tried to find decent reviews for them but nothing too helpful as my ol man is thinking about them for his *cough* Subaru *cough* I have the Cooper AT3 4S and LOVE THEM, very solid on road, quiet and comfy and I still get great hwy mileage, and quite good off as well (thought I've yet to...
The number in the article seems higher than the generally accepted 29.5 so I kept to 245/65/17. I saw someone on here put 255/55/17 on but I haven't seen larger without rubbing
Both to tire jobs look awesome! @Bronco(maybe?) the hitch you have, is that on you ordered after market or came with? I've read in other threads the BL w/tow is supposed to come with it but I didnt see one in ours.
I just think he was just surprised as a 70 tire will generally rub especially on a non lifted model, and with the felt wheel well it's likely to tear that up. There's appeal for a 70 tire if it will work so I think people are genuinely curious and as other reports are it causes problems want to...
You would see far more of a drop going from 225 to 255 than you would going from 45psi to 36ps. If you way under deflated them for rock crawling ie down to 20-25 you would notice a difference but you're probably talking a half a mpg or so with 45-36 and thats probably an over estimation.
It's funny you say that, I've given a lot of thought to that actually. How do we know they're correct from the factory I've never tested a vehicle for accuracy before other than the speed signs in a neighborhood or something, even then how do we know those are accurate.
They're actually pretty quiet and comfortable, haven't taken em off road yet. I'm going to be swapping them to my '08 Mariner which uses the same size tire as they're a decent upgrade over my worn out scorpion Verde all seasons on it, and I'm either going with with the Cooper AT3 4S or the Conti...
