I keep telling people when it comes to these cars get the 2.0L. When it was the Escape, the Fusion or any other car that had these 1.5-1.6L Ecoboost engines is 95% of the issues. Dont even get me started on the 1.0L Ecoboost engine that was in the Focus.
Just an FYI, when filling up especially with no fuel cap Fords, when the nozzle clicks stop. Don't try to get that extra .5 gallon in there. This can be a major cause of EVAP failure.
To the OP, Ford will fix this. I know its a bummer right at the beginning of ownership.
On a Mazda side note. My wife had a 93 Escort GT, which was really a Mazda Protege, that car had 286K miles and the engine didn't burn a drop of oil. Yes I had just gone through my 3rd transmission...
My 2015 Ford Focus SE with 2.0 engine failed at 6k miles. I got a new Reman engine from Ford under warranty and its been 6 yrs. later and 80k miles with no issues. You should be fine.
I just accepted it...its a character of the car. Mine has done it since new. Once the car has been moving it doesn't do it anymore. I don't find it that much of a big deal to even take it to the dealer for that.
