2021, 65K: I purchased new in Jan 22. At 35K I had the RDU and left rear axle replaced due to pronounced shuttering. At 55K I had the water pump replaced, coolant system flushed and new coolant. Thankfully both major works were covered by the warranty. At around 35K I replaced the battery and...
I’ve experimented with just about every combination of fuel, driving modes, and habits to maximize my fuel efficiency. My daily commute is an 80-mile round trip here in South Florida, with about 90% of that on highways at speeds between 55-60 mph and the remaining 10% in the city. It’s flat...
Same CAI I have on mine. To maximize the air flow you need to open up the exhaust as well. I gained over 20% better mpg by removing the OEM muffler and installing two 2.25" Vibrant mufflers with 3" tips. The sound is awesome and adds a nice look from the back. Together with the intake and...
Easy install, there one long threaded bolt that's a mild pain to remove. Other than that a 15-20 minute job. I bought the pre-screen that goes over the filter, helps keeping leaves and bugs off the filter. It'll look good in place of the OEM Box.
It's more than getting exceptional fuel economy, it's more of hobby. And a Prius, not my cup of tea. I didn't buy my BS for milage, just the opposite. I liked the retro look with the tech, I'm a life long Ford guy too so it was time to gift myself with a new car. The big surprise was it turned...
I drive 80 mile R/T to work, my OB turned out to be a surprising econobox considering it was never engineered for milage. After just over 45K my longterm average is now 34.1 mpg. Confirmed by hand calcs and adjusting the fuel bias settings every 10K. That is accomplished by doing the speed...
Southern Florida here. My 45000 mile average is a very consistant 34 mpg. Highway only mpg varies between 44 and 48, depends on the wind direction. I do the speed limit (55-60) whatever that might be for a 80 mile R/T to work, use 93 octane fuel from either Chevron or Costco, eco mode, and...
I went custom on my exhaust. I installed two 2.25" Vibrant Resonators in place of the huge OEM muffler. I removed the OEM resonator to decrease flow resistance and ended with two 3" Ceramic coated tips. The sound is incredible, no rasp or drone.
Here is the link to the CAI I installed...
Yes, I installed a custom exhaust as well and it sounds amazing! If you really want to realize the full potential of your new exhaust I recommend adding a CAI. AFE has a reasonably priced one that uses the factory air duct that pulls air from the grill. I guarantee you will feel a difference and...
I have a aFe CAI on my 1.5. The turbo noise doesn't become noticeable till around 3000 rpm and really sings at 5000. The turbo sounds even better IMO with the CAI. I also have a custom exhaust to add to the sound salad the little dragon makes when wound up. I might be biased but my 1.5 sounds...
I have 28K on the Vibrants and they still look and sound like the day I installed them. They have a lifetime guarantee as well. Without the factory muffler on the factory resonator is just dead weight. I tried it both on and off and there is no difference in sound with the Vibrants. Did your...
Search for "Engineering Test Mode" on this site. There arr some good tutorials on how to access test mode and change the fuel bias. You will need to run 4 or 5 tanks of fuel to get a more accurate average. Reset the Trip 2 Odo at the first fill up and document the miles at fill up. After running...
By law you are covered if you modify the exhaust but only behind the Cat. Touch the Cat and you open up the preverbial can of worms when it come to the warranty or emissions testing.
The sound of my BS is awesome, in fact much better than than I imagined it would be, especially for a 3 cylinder...
I swapped out my factory muffler and resonator for custom exhaust using two 2.25" SS Vibrant mufflers with 3" tips. This cost less than half what Borla and others are selling and sounds better IMO. Alone there was next to no HP gain. Simply replacing the exhaust rarely gets you the expected gain...
I am curious as well. MPG is easy to calculate, HP is another matter. Sometimes its just imagined. I would like to do Dyno test to verify real or imagined. For now I'm jappy with the gain in mpg as that was my goal.
Rarely will you notice a power or mpg gain with just a CAI mod. However; open up the intake and exhaust together and you will maximize the potential the CAI is designed for. Do either mod without combining them is just for show. I realized a noticeable gain in mpg by using an A-Fe CAI and...
