As a third person reading what the dealership told you it sounds very fishy to me. First is the control arm change out. If it was defective the sound it makes would be much different than a reverse left turn shudder that is typical for a bad RDU. The shudder is very specific, you can hear it and...
I had my WP changed out under warranty earlier this year. That included a engine flush, new coolant, etc. That was 20K ago, as of today I estimate I've lost about 8oz. of coolant. There is no external indication of a leak, no odor, no nothing. Before I had the WP replaced I was refilling the...
I updated to ceramic pads and slotted rotors on the rear about a year ago. I also had the mechanic install the Ford Bushing Kit (1st interation) that was was supposed to eliminate the moan. The update worked for a couple of weeks but it returned slowly, as of yeaterday morning the moan was as...
This is a related to the latest software upgrade. Where before it would dispaly an alert at 50, 25 and Zero it now displays in 1 mile increments from 50 miles and lower. If it says zero most like you have 10 miles, maybe 20 miles left as shown in the video posted above. I wouldn't race to the...
I will mention it to Ford, I would imagine the tech did that during the test, maybe not. I'm expecting an endoscope in the mail today so I'll look in those hard to see areas under the pulley and everywhere else.
One would think so but it was just my word against a pressure test that didn't show any loss. That is why I am documenting with photos and dates. The next time I take it in I will wait until it gets to minimum. I will have the starting photo and possibly the oil test to prove my case. More to...
I had my engine coolant system pressure tested at a local dealer the other day. The test didn't show any pressure loss so nothing came of it. The next day I added about 4 ounces of coolant, snapped a photo, dated it with the mileage and will monitor for more coolant loss. The system loses...
I recently replaced my rear rotors and brake pads, swapping the OEM parts with PowerStop ceramic pads and slotted rotors. I also upgraded the OEM caliper bushings with Ford’s new and improved kit. At first, the change seemed effective, but after about a week, the familiar moaning sound returned...
Definitely sounds serious and by no means common. I would take it to another shop immediately and document the inspection. And ditch that dealer, very unprofessional statement by the advisor.
I suspect my water pump might be leaking although I see no signs of coolant dripping anywhere. I add about 2 or 3 ounces of water every month to keep the level at "MAX" in the reservoir. I'm ready to take it in soon for an alignment and I'll bring up the issue with the service advisor. Always...
Welcome to the RDU replacement club. Mine went out at 39K, the shudder issue is a common theme here. If you do a search you'll find many threads on it. Have the tech next to you while you duplicate the shudder. There will be no problem getting it fixed while under warranty but it takes time to...
If any FI vehicle has had a string of leaks and/or fires and those issue's point to the injectors than I believe a recall would be immediately issued. As far as what amount triggers a recall is undetermined, that's up to the NHTSA to determine. I'm sure over the last 30 years or so there has...
I am part of a class action suit on the subject. Although the suit was intially dismissed it was resubmitted with additional information that developed. Not saying I am privy to the legal proceedings and that I know what the info is. However there is something to merit a second hearing on the...
There is a injury and/or damage threshold that the NHTSA will base their findings on. They will compile information from all insurance records that reference fire in the claim records. From there they will need to narrow it down to "injector related". And then narrow it down to "defective...
I had to have my RDU replaced before 40K, the new and approved vent hose too. It started shuddering around 30K and got so bad it was a matter of time until it was totally undriveable. The Ford mechanic said the oil was good, not a hose issue. Although the vent hose might be an issue for some...
I would take some preemptive action. Change the RDU oil asap and add a bottle of Friction Modifier, add the Modifier first. If you catch it in time you might save it from total failure.
Welcome to the RDU Replacement Club. Grieco Ford Fort Lauderdale was very responsive on my replacement as well. Not something I expected but Ford did come through. Now hoping my tranny either goes to 150K or fails before the Drive Train warranty expires which is only 14K away. I still love the...
Easy fix, take some dental floss and work it behind the letter in a sawing motion. Once removed clean the area and reattach with new trim adhesive. You can find it in almost any auto parts store. Takes 10 minutes or so if you have everything ready when you start. You can try and salvage the...
Houston you have a problem. It might be drivable but you better not drive it very far from the dealer. I had a complete replacement of my RDU and drivers side axle at 40K. The dealer threw in the updated vent hose too. Altogether it totaled 4k, that included a rental for almost two weeks. I paid...
