You can put them where you need them to be for your application. You can always change it depending on what you're using them for. This is where I put mine.

Ok, on everyone's advice I went with the Thule crossbars and picked them up at the dealer. Easy to put on and even comes with the locks. Off to home depot for some ratchet straps. Thanks for the advice.

Where did you pick up the fairing? I just put in an order for these cross bars.

Those have a t track or just flat? I like those because they actually look flat and not bowed upwards.

Is the top a T track? But they give you some weather stripping to fill it?

Those seem decent. Always nervous with no reviews. I wish there were more photos of the bars themselves. Not too worried about cost. Within reason anyway. I'd rather pay for quality any day.
