The white letters will bother me much less than the chipped or peeling black letters that I would end up having one day. Adding unnecessary little things to my car that WILL degrade and get ugly one day? I figure there will be enough things to take care of as the car ages to keep it looking nice...
Just the looks. We only have one car and honestly every other box was probably checked better by a Honda hybrid CRV. But my heart wanted to see this in my driveway. 2 years and over 30k miles. No regrets.
Sounds like your old age and wisdom were working wonderfully in your favor to: Stubbornly persist in solving the problem, Be open to the idea that it might be your fault, Determine the type of problem it might be, thoroughly check the correct things that could have caused the problem, fixed it...
Don’t take it personally. Based on the forum it would appear that the Sport owners are mostly serious old men who keep both hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. We just didn’t see your wave. If we noticed your Sport we were trying to spot your model badge to judge you.
I opted up to the OB with a tow package to get the black roof and a full size spare and then had to special order to get that combination without a sunroof or Tech package upgrade!
Have some similar stains that I believe are due to some zinc based sun protection products. Annoying, but I have a Bronco Sport and get to spend time in the sun. Life is good.
Great post! I am planning to make a few trips towing that same trailer next year and will have this bookmarked to review and follow. Thanks so much for taking the time to share!
In order to meet the ever growing customer expectations for bells and whistles, cars have become more and more complex and thus prone to failures of both software and mechanical systems. More features = more problems.
23 Outer Banks with about 23k on it. I was afraid to go get the PCM and Sync recalls done last week for fear they would mess up my good thing! But not having to turn the radio off has been nice.
I’m with you. Beyond helping salespersons and buyers on the lot identify one model vs another they do nothing for me. I think part of my problem is that “Badges” is a generous term for them, they are essentially just a thick sticker with no substance on a car that is supposed to exude substance.
The only real purpose for a vehicle is to get you and your stuff from point A to point B safely and efficiently. When a vehicles large size, and many of its features, and thus cost, have nothing to do with those purposes it is easy for consumers to decide that buying food and fixing their roof...
Thanks. The outer slots accommodate 4x8 goods. Easy to store, easy to put on and off. The occasional lumber run was the only thing I was going to need crossbars for in the near future and I did not want to be looking at them the other 360 days of the year. A design challenge and an excuse to use...
If I had thought a hybrid might be out in 2024 would I have delayed my 2023 purchase? Maybe? Nah, if I cared that much about a more luxurious interior and getting a hybrid I would have bought the CRV.
