Yep. And that was no special deal or 'fixer-upper.' Just a modest 3 BR, with no basement. It was considered a 'starter house'. I was able to cover the mortgage working 40 hours per week as a train control tech at Metro (the D.C. subway).
It was right after that when prices started to...
It seems less common now, but in the early days of the internet, a sleazy tactic some vendors used (all products, not just auto parts) was to refuse to let the 'mark' -- I mean customer -- see the shipping cost until just before placing the order. In a few cases, not even then. You were told...

"Don’t worry, there are plenty of options under $100,000."
Whew, I was thinking they might be expensive...
My first house -- a 3 BR single family in Rockville, MD -- cost $67,000, and that was in 1984 (a while ago, but not 1944). Anyway...
For decades (pre-internet) I...
I'd forgotten about the GPF, thanks!
It could be the tires spinning, it's hard to say. I was wondering if it was one or more of the clutches slipping -- hopefully as designed.
I haven't had a chance to study the AWD system, but I assume it is designed such that the clutch(es) slip before...
You are absolutely right to be concerned. From what I've read, and personally experienced over ~50 years, many/most? (but not all) dealerships do not like warranty work and will do whatever they can to avoid it because:
* The reimbursement rate for labor is less and/or the book time is lower.
*...
Generally speaking, dealers and mfrs (not just Ford) try very hard to weasel out of paying for repairs.
To be fair, sometimes the repair is not their responsibility, but when it is, they have a long list of reasons why they won't cover it.
For example, modifications -- even minor ones that...
My thought as well (dropping the pan for a bottom end inspection).
What had/has me confused is this (from the article):
"The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components in these vehicles may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure."
"Manufacturing...
Any idea what the 'inspection procedure' involves?
It's not clear to me how switching to 0W-40 will solve the issue. That implies that some engines were damaged by the use of 0W-20, but others were not.
True.
With all of the 'decontenting' going on, and promo material and photos not always updated to reflect the deleted options and features, a personal inspection with a checklist is a very good idea.
Without specific knowledge (from places like this forum) even a visual inspection may not be...
Many BS owners replace the OE wheels and tires. That might be another option -- although if a person has a set of 4 they probably want to sell them as a set.
As for the fit, IDK but I'd guess that the spare storage area is the same across all BS trims. Our BL has plenty of room for the full...
You might want to look for other posts/threads (here and elsewhere) about the sunroof exploding and see how many were covered by the mfr's warranty.
It is clearly not your fault, and it's not as if something fell on it. It's a factory defect. FWIW, your sunroof looks like other photos I've...
Great observation!
I've wondered the same thing. A cynical person might suspect that the drain plug placement and the issues I mentioned are intentional, to encourage owners to go to the dealer. I doubt that's the case, but of all the cars I've worked on in 50 years the oil change on the BS...
That sounds right.
Believe it or not, the fob for my 2002 WRX (purchased in the spring of 2001) has never had the battery replaced and still works! But I know it's an outlier.
I just realized I forgot to post the voltage of the new batteries -- they were both just over 3.2V.
The packaging says "Energizer" but the batteries are marked "Panasonic CR2450." Exp. date is 3/2034.
I'm still curious as to why the original batteries were considered low at over 3V?
That makes sense.
I'll be 64 in July. There's a limit to how many more oil changes I have in me. For now though, I prefer to continue to do them myself.
I actually have a nice 2-post lift. The problem is, that's the only space the RV will fit into. It's a bit of a PITA to pull the RV out...
