Bambu PLA Tough+ shows 61°C (141.8°F) “Heat Resistance“:
Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) under a specified load (not the materials melting point)

It’s the temperature at which the material starts to noticeably soften and deform under a modest mechanical load.

For Bambu PLA Tough+, 61 °C (141.8°F) means it may start to warp or droop in a vehicle parked in the summer sun … which can easily reach 60–80°C inside in some climates.

I’ve been wondering about the 3D files provided for the Ford Maverick and starting to be provided for the Slate Truck
- do these state use of ABS or other suitable material for printing load bearing parts that will survive well inside hot vehicles in certain climates?

Heat's the one area the new filament doesn't match up well to ABS, but I'm not sure any of my cars have reached 140F+ internally here in the Surface Valley of the Sun.

UV resistance isn't mentioned, which is another area of concern. I'd say this is fine for shaded cargo area attachments, console widgets, etc.

The shame is that it's considerably stronger than ABS (except for bending strength) otherwise.

I've ordered a few spools and will play around & report back if there's anything significant I see. Would've been nice if Bambu gave some tested use cases, but I guess we're the beta testers here. ;)

You are right, I forgot to mention the importance of UV resistance

I’ve measured nearly 150°F inside temp - that’s the reason I won’t keep lithium battery products inside the vehicle even if not in direct sun

Even on our 120F+ days, I don’t think I’ve hit that in the cabin. If I have to park in an unshaded area, I take a lot of mitigation measures.

I also keep a spare pair of Arizona Driving Gloves on hand. You can find them on Amazon under “oven mitts”.
