Service appointment was made to get 2 things done.

1. Water build up in the 3rd brake light.
2. Passenger side rear power window malfunctioning.

Overall dealer fixed the problem but not without leaving me really questioning Ford Brand Quality Workmanship.

Long story short, dealer took my car in to replace the 3rd brake light. What I got back was more issues and several new damages to the car because of a grade level D mechanic what appear to be careless or clueless about quality of work. His workmanship directly reflect on Ford Brand and I give that a failing F.

Remeber, I went in for 2 repairs and end result were way more damages and now new repairs to be made simply because of poor workmanship.

Here is the list and photos of what I got back:

1. 3rd brake light housing also have the rear spray nozzle built into it. Well that was facing the sky not the winshield.

2. Non functioning rear spray nozzle. I suspect the fluid hose must have been bent or disconnected at install since no fluid was coming out of it which was facing the sky.

3. Dents all over the Trunk around the 3rd brake light housing from God knows what the heck mechanic was doing to get that in there. Clearly pounding that 3rd brake light in there.

4. Rear defroster connecting was disconnected (I simply connected it).

5. Extreme poor job putting back all the trunk plastics and some were not even put back all the way.

6. Dirt marks on my ceiling (it happens but man clean it up).

7. They replaced the rear passenger door power window motor. I'm guessing the mechanic had a flat head screw driver or something and slashed the door.

I am not sure if there is a QC process after the work is done but clearly that was not done. Big miss and bigger mess. More damage and repair needed than going in. Ultimately more resource, wasted expense, and questioning the Ford Brand. I spoke to the service manager and he too was shocked and took care of it all so overall it is water under the bridge. What I don't know is did they hold the mechanic accountable or question if SOP were followed? End product or work should not go out without QC and I'm sure it was hard to miss.

See photos and share your service expierence.

Typical Ford dealer warranty work all too common. But ppl will get on here and say don't worry about any problems you have a warranty.

I would look at online reviews of dealers and see if you can find a better dealer.

Overall I am fine with the dealer since they took care of it. It definitely can be avoided and should be. I haven't owned a Ford in a very long time and the service level was extremely shocking.

So the dealer fixed all the damage caused by the Tech?

Sounds like your dealer really fell down on this job. Yikes! I hope you’re able to work with them & get everything resolved. Sounds like you did. Though I’m not sure if it was me just what the dealer could’ve done to make all that all right, that’s pretty poor all round.

I had the dirt marks all over the ceiling once when I had my F150. Like are you F’ing kidding me? I went off on the service advisor & when they refused to clean it I grabbed a bottle of upholstery cleaner off their inventory shelf, without paying Mind you, & went out to the parking lot & cleaned it myself. The bottle is still in my garage for the next time it’s needed. Usually I’;m much calmer & every other service issue I’ve had is generally much better resolved.

Dealer took care of it over a week. Inside door panel prob was replaced since I don't know how they will fix that. Dents ptob got body work and prob had to replace the 3rd brake light again from jamming that in or something. Yes dealer owned up to it and fixed it. I'm fine with the dealer since they fixed the issue but they need to think about the quality of work their techs are doing. Also, where is their QC person? Do they even have someone that do the final inspection afterward? I hope that's not the mechanic doing the job.

On my other car, I get paper covering on floor mats, steering wheel plastic wrapped, QC inspected to ensure job is done first time. I know I can not compare Apple to Apple but basics would be enough for me. Not expecting red carpet treatment what so ever. Just simple treatment of would you be happy if someone else return the car to you same way? When basics are not there, they can not build or grow.

Man that sucks and hear you on cleaning up other people's mess. I too ended up cleaning up the ceiling, carefully putting back the plastic trims thay were not put back, connected the rear defroster cable back onto rear window.

I'll be honest, when I was reading it my initial thought was, "here's another overly sensitive owner that's going to complain about nit-picky little things." But damn, that's just plain embarrassing for that dealer. What a mess! One of the interior panels was on top of the weatherstripping! And the dents?! Was the tech drunk?

LoL thanks..... I'm pretty chill and give benefit of doubt. Always think maybe someone is having a bad day and I just don't need to add to it if avoidable. I had to properly put back the rubber weather stripping after putting back the plastic trims back on properly. So simple.......but tech clearly couldn't do it.

I agree with you. & that kind of service that you get with your other car is what I get from Ford now. Haha what sucks is I’d never walk off with a thing in my life, but that day I was so mad over something that while so minor was something I shouldn’t have to do, that I felt justified. I found it was a learning experience for me, with a dealer at the time that I’d always otherwise worked well with. I really do sympathize with what all you experienced & hope your dealership learns from it.

Wow,
Did you see all the issues during pick up or after leaving the dealer? I would get the dealers owner involved as well, completely unacceptable.

Shane we have to QC the QC.

It was after I left. It was my first service and pick up and left. I noticed it when I was trying to wash my rear window and notice no fluid just wiper doing its thing. So I pulled over and noticed the nozzle facing up. When I had someone activate the fluid to see if it will shoot up into the sky (that would be kinda funny to see), no fluid came out. Because of that, I fully inspected the work they did and found all the above. That's when I ended up not calling but drove in to talk to them in person. Can't avoid you in person.

One of the most stressful arguments I ever had with a service manager was about a mess the tech left behind following an oil change. There were hand prints all over the fender, oil spilled on top of the engine near the filler port, oil on the defroster cowling, oil on the frame crossmember that spilled from the filter removal, and oil on the splash guard. There was so much spilled oil on the splash guard and frame it was actually dripping. I always check the oil level and look for leaks after someone else changes the oil in my car.

I got the service manager and showed him the mess. He suggested I brought the car in like that. I opened the driver's door and showed him the spotless interior and asked him if he thought someone that anal about keeping the car clean would leave a mess like that. We went back and forth for a few minutes, then he told me I'd have to move the car since it was blocking the entrance to the service bay. I said the car wasn't going anywhere until he cleaned up the mess to my satisfaction. He got red in the face, but had the tech come out with some shop towels and cleaner. 10 minutes later I was on my way, and I've never let anyone change the oil in any of my cars since.
